How are the hinges on the w3v, are they stiff (tough)?.. like a panasonic toughbook (amazing hinges, build quality), or more flimsy (which I doubt) like compaq or hps?

How long do you estimate the hinges to last?

Sorry for all the W3V questions.. but it's tough to lay out $2k for something you cannot use before you buy, only see pictures of.

    Thanks.

The hinges on my W3A seem to be very robust (but only 3 weeks use so far) with minimal display wobble. The hinge / battery design results in big hinges, so they should last well.

    Honestly,

The hinges are basically the same internally as any other Notebook asus has made. They are very strong and the layout of this design around them only makes them better. Regardless though... down the road you're looking at a couple bucks to replace them if ever needed. So since we can all only tell you what they feel like 3 weeks in.... they can be replaced if they needed to be.

    Thanks,
    Justin

I've seen Dell notebooks fall apart because they cracked up where the hinges were anchored into the display. The W3 doesn't look as if it will have this problem.
