Would it be possible to hook up the Asus W3J to the Dell 2007FPW Ultrasharp Flatpanel Monitor? The 2007FPW has a VGA port so I don't see why it should't work. Will it look okay on the 2007FPW? Will the resolution and everything be okay? Will the entire screen be filled up properly? I'm trying to make my setup look like the picture attached, expect with an Asus W3J replacing the MBP and the Dell Monitor replacing the Apple Cinema Display. Will I be able to do this with my Asus W3J?

    Thanks in advance.

That's common.......... I'm doing it right now actually, but to a 20" Asus monitor that blows they pants off that Dell..... Go larger than 21" widescreen and you'd see a difference between VGA and DVI. Up to that point, you really can't see a difference. The W3's graphics card goes well above WUXGA (1920 x 1200) - that's the highest res I can use, so I forget what it goes up to, but it's at least 2 steps above that which I've never even seen a need for yet.

Hook up a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and you've got an awesome way to create a desktop when you come home if you so desire.

It's a good setup for graphics/gaming people who want portability 80% of the time, but really need a huge screen and full size keyboard and mouse to do big projects or really get into a game........ I always say that if you're going to do a setup like this - you don't want to go bigger than 14" becasue say a 17" W2 honestly comes off to your eye about the same waya 23" desktop monitor does (trust me, I've done this also)... the distance a notebook screen is away from you verses where you'd place a desktop monitor to be comfortable makes the two really blend into each other..... so why stop using the notebook screen unless you've got a 30/40/50" screen?

I don't know what you do or how much traveling you might want to do, but if you don't need ALL of the graphics power of the x1600, and maybe want something even smaller to travel with.... you might want to look at the W7..... it'll still let you do what you want as far as turning it into a desktop... but it'll be lighter, but still a very good graphics card. Depends on how you want to use it...

Gaming on the 2007FPW (at native resolution) with the X1600 is giong to get WAY worse framerates than at the W3J's native resolution. Of course, games will still be playable and such, but your going to see a pretty big performance hit. My desktop is hooked to a 2005 FPW, and I have a much, much more powerful card than the x1600, and I have to set most things to high for CS:S, but medium / medium/high for FEAR and oblivion.

I had my W3J hooked up to a 20' Dell CRT at work and I can't remember the exact resolution but it was very high I was surprised, it was fantastic, the res for the external monitor goes up to 2048 x 1536!
