I am trying to hookup my ASUS P501J laptop up to my HDMI TV. I bought a VGA to HDMI cable but when I plug it into both the laptop and TV it doesn't display the laptop on the TV, all I get is the blue screen that states nothing to display on the TV. I have tried to go into the control panel and try to get the 2 displays and to mirror the laptop display on the TV but nothing seems to work. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong.
    Thanks

I know the following must be a sure thing, but small stuff like that do happen: did you enable the corresponding input on your tv? Set it to HDMI?

I don't know anything about your laptop, but have you tried Windows+P key combo? Also, some TVs are more picky than others about accepting a signal, such as the Sony Bravia.
