    Hey all!

I'm kinda bored, and in the near future I'm thinking of getting a new laptop. I love my G1s-A1, however its not worth the hefty (it's not that big..but I need smaller than 15.4") size and bulkiness. I also need much better battery life than the 2 hours maximum, plus I'd like to be able to pull my laptop out at any opportunity, even without a desk top plop it on.

I just searched Froogle, as saw that the G1s-A1 still goes for around $1,600 (USD)...however Red Barn Comps. had the B2 for $1,499 (That's crazy considering I got mine for $1,800!!!)... So, in the near future when I do upgrade to a new laptop, how much do you think I could sell my G1s for? It's in pretty "good" condition, few to no scratches, almost no dents, etc. $1,000?

    Thanks,
    Eric Huang

Asus, although has great built quality, often suffers from poor resale values. Macs are well know by the average consumer market, so it is a given that their resale value will be that high. Since Asus is not as well know consumers are usually skeptic about its value and quality.

Yeah, but honestly that's really kinda lame...especially so since at least the G1s quality is great and the specs are equal to the MBP.... Bah

i started a thread about this before bit it died quick, seems like no one was really interested. Key thing is time, depends when ur gonna sell it. I too am planning on selling, but far off, (August) and I hope that I can get at least $1000. If possible I might get an ultraportable (like a U1 or sony SZ) and then a desktop gaming rig or a laptop gaming rig. I just don't know yet as I would also like to game on the plane or train rides. Or maybe just go for a laptop like the new alienware which has some portability whihc will be my only one. My budget should be around $2800 and the money that I get from the G1S which I hope will be 1000. so 3800 for 2 laptops, 1 portable and one for gaming. Or just one that can do both jobs.

In that case, why wouldn't you get a desktop? I mean there's plenty of small, easy to upgrade ones out there....like Shuttle ones or Fragboxes. They're cheap and small! I don't see the point in gaming laptops since they get outdated so quick, and are worthless after that since their main purpose is to game on lol. At least with a smaller computer, it's usefulness for it's main purpose lasts much much longer since your just doing light work on it. I'm eying the Dell XPS M1330. Such as nice computer, especially with a 8400 GS at 13.3".

Also, where would the best place to sell this be? I'm located on the East Coast...also I can't sell the bag and mouse with it since both are kinda "used" beyond selling hah.... There's also one little dead/stuck pixel towards the left side of the screen which I've been ignoring since I've already RMAed this machine twice to Asus for that same issue.... I imagine that might take the worth of this notebook even lower?

Okay...so a quick question. Is there any way I could sell this to a eBay store (or something similar)? I'd hate to go through all the hassle involved in eBay, especially since my account doesn't have ratings on it.

    Thanks,
    Eric Huang

    LOTS of scammers on craglist

a little more safe on ebay, though people will be wary of a person with no ratings

just DO NOT SELL TO ANY ONE IN AFRICA

best to sell either locally or in US/canada/UK

you can probably sell for 1100-1200 range imo

the g1s-b sold for 1600 cause its higher spec'ed

By the way BST is the Buy, Sell, Trade subforum on NBR. Check the rules over there before posting. :)

There aren't a lot of storefronts that deal in used notebooks, unless there is a local computer shop in your area. Just don't expect to get anywhere near top dollar for it if you somehow are able to go that route.

Friends of friends in the market for a notebook are best for personal sales if you want to avoid Ebay (sales price that route will also be limited), and you're right about potential issues selling high value merchandise with limited ratings there - but that doesn't seem to happen with the Mac listings, go figure. Still, that's probably your best bet for maximizing your sale price. I probably wouldn't expect much more that $900-1000 at absolute best, as essentially new G1's aren't breaking that line very much over there and it seems like a limited market based on current and closed listings.

    Well, that depends...

I sold my Asus G1 (older model) for $1500 and then purchased a Asus G1S for the same ammount! :)

Well, maybe it's because I live in Mexico... LOL

    Cheers!
