I see a lot of questions here re how to id this or that piece of hardware in their notebook.

I had the same question(s) when wondering what protocol , type , and/or maker of hardware in my system(s).

Someone mentioned "PC Wizard" so I thought I'd check it out. This pgm turned out to be excellent & free. It will give you pretty much all you need to know about your system & is a great starting point to get specific knowledge so you can go looking for more info if needed. PC Wizard will also allow you to monitor your cpu/gpu temps when minimized. The site has other free software that can come in handy if you do not need a broad system identifier.

SiSoft Sandra has a free Lite version that should accomplish much of the same thing, I believe.

While Sandra was ok in her day it's not even close in comparisons. Besides in order to get "her" best you got'a pay to play.

    PC Wizard is 100% free.

True, but the lite version has all the identification components intact as well as use of the stress, cpu, memory and a few others too as I recall (haven't used in a while). And it's 100% free, too.

I was simply pointing out the presence of an alternative to accomplish what you were talking about; the full package obviously offers more, but for the basics you describe it will probably suffice :).

Don't want to get into a pissing contest here.

    Sandra is fine.

    PC Wizard is fine.

Anyone else have any fine pgm's for id'ing system info ?
