    Does Direct Console not work?

You could also try use SetFSB but before doing so, you'll need to find out what your PLL is.

Wait you've gone from one thread of im returning it because of the resolution to how can i overclock it?

My only good faith guess is to crank some benchmarks numbers out before u get rid of it.

Do you know what Direct Console is?

Press Start then search for it. If you don't have it, uhh. Google G50VT PLL. Download a nice app called SetFSB. Then its self explanatory.

There's an application called Turbo something something. I forgot what.

The PLL is ics9lpr604aglf, be careful about raising clocks. That X9000 overclocks heaps but overheats nasty as well.

I believe you set the BIOS to overclock it either 15% or 30%, I'm not concrete about those numbers though.

Because the G50Vt was never supposed to come stock with an Extreme CPU.

    Done the OC yet?

    D'oh!

Yeah, I bet that's the problem. Direct Console is likely wondering what that black monolith is doing in the CPU slot.

Yeah ahaha. The OP is definitely going to encounter some problems down the track. The CPU has a massive TDP of 44w and isn't even designed to work in the G50VT lol and he wants to overclock it :).

44W is alot? Mine is 65W and I overclock it to death :) Didn't like 75W x6800 though that CPU sucks
Granted 44W is a fair whack for a mobile proc

True but the C90s is kinda designed to handle the heat of desktop CPUs :).

i did over cloc it to from 2.8 to 3.2 and it works great. the temps are 60c and when i stress the cpu at 100% it goes to 75c to 80c.

Have you made sure its overclocked with CPU-Z?

Make sure it doesn't get over 80c.

Up to 80C is alright but any higher for prolonged periods probably isn't good. When I tried a x6800 temps climbed to 85C at 3ghz and it wasn't properly stable, so I assume temps over 80C will make an overclock unstable.

I would place some serious reservations on OC for the X5. I think the machine runs quite well for the price that you purchase it at, and doesn't need the extra push. If you can red-line this thing into 75*C+ with Crysis, I wouldn't want to think about what happens when you tick it off with an extra clock boost (outside of Asus's Direct Console, of course).
