I struggled with this for such a long time, I thought it important to share what worked for me when I needed to re-install the original Asus drivers. Needless to say, I got no help from Asus. It was only through trial and error and forum research that I came up with these steps:

Note: Removal and re-installation are all done in Safe mode.

    1. Use Control Panel to remove the nVidia graphics drivers.
    2. Re-boot when asked into safe mode.
    3. Run the Asus VGA patch to remove remaining entries from the Windows registry.
    4. Run CCleaner registry cleaner to remove orphaned registry entries.
    5. Run Driver Sweeper to remove items left over from the driver uninstall.
    6. Re-boot into safe mode.
    7. Load the Asus install CD and run the nVidia install from the Display folder.
    8. Re-boot normally.

Intel and nVidia drivers should now be working normally.

Note: Before using this procedure, I had upgraded my BIOS to 214. I'm not sure if that was significant.
