The 186.42 drivers seem to run a little bit cooler with the same performance as the DoX drivers.

Ops.. didnt see you mention the 186.42 :p

Anyways, right now I cant test anymore drivers, I flashed my vBios back to 0.9V, so any driver I pick now will give me lower temps...

But Tevas did use the 186.42, he had problems with it ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5240851&postcount=749 ).. Looks like it heat more than cool downs after gaming sessions... :(

I also found DOX the best driver for my G51VX... Very happy with it, amazing or not, its the one I have the lowest or equal temps Idle/Gaming, and at same time, gives me the best performance.. You can call me crazy now ... :p

I haven't had any issues with 186.42. Then again, I haven't seen too many gains, either.

Regarding my issue with 186.42: I think its because I downloaded the driver from laptopvideo2go rather from that other site that the link was provided to.

Still on Dox 185.85 now since I'm too lazy to test out the other 186.42 WHQL

Why are these drivers better than the nvidia drivers?

Dox drivers are modified versions of nvidia drivers. Dox basically optimizes them for performance by removing unnecessary parts of the drivers.

I have the G71 and when I installed the 186.42 drivers my temps dropped 4ºC from the nvidia drivers and about 2-3ºC from the DoX drivers. The performance is pretty much equal to the DoX drivers by the way.

Once you uninstall the drivers you have and driversweeper/reboot, etc., go into the folder where you extracted the driver files and double click the setup.exe file.
