I was googling on how to type spanish accents using a laptop and it doesnt work for me. Here is what I do:

    1. I set numlock on
    2. I hold FN and CTRL together
    3. I press numbers that corrrespond to the accent letter
    4. I release FN and CTRL

The program I am using is word. Whenever I press FN CTRL 164, it makes it seem as if I pressed "Format" with a mouse. What am I doing wrong?

Press Ctrl, ', then the letter to get accents in Word.
Press Ctrl, shift, ~, n to get Ñ.

    Star > Run > charmap
put it in advanced mode, which brings up the ability to search

Oh sorry, I forgot to clarify about the ñ.

You press Ctrl, shift, ~, THEN let go of shift, and press n.
Keep holding shift if you want upper case Ñ.
