because most people are more comfortable with xga. i prefer sxga myself. But there are only like 2 notebooks out in 14.1in that have xga+ so its not like everyone has one and asus doesnt.

There are no 14" widescreens out there that are wsxga. there are 14" standard ratio with sxga, and widescreens with wxga+, but that's as best as you'll get.

the dell d620 14.1in 1440 x 900 and there is a 14.1in LG model LG T1 that was reviewed on this site with the same rez. a 14in reg ratio would be 1400 x 1050 i think so 1440 x 900 is sxga just in widescreen. So its pretty close to sxga. 1680 x 1050 would be way to high for a 14.1 in notebook.

You might be able to mod it to fit a WXGA+ 14" panel in one of their notebooks. But I wouldn't recommend it unless you got some dealer to do it for you.

The Asus' 14" resolutions are a good balance right now IMO. If you go higher I'm not sure if it'll be as easy to read or if games will run as smoothly on their native resolution.

I really like the 1280 x 800(or 786) on Asus screens. On a 14" I wouldn't want anything higher reolution. But for some that have windows open side by side, or do graphic design etc. It's almost a must.

wxga+ can display 1440x900 correct? Is there anymore 14" or 14.1" that could display a higher resolution than 1024x768 besides the D620 and the LC mentioned above? Thanks

Actually... the Z62j that came in as a demo a few weeks ago is WXGA+.... I actually considered taking that screen and swapping it with my W3, but I think I'll leave well enough alone... Those should be in any time now.

The technology is not come out yet, 14.1" max up to 1440x900. Most of 14.1" LCD can support 1280x800 in the market, but not many different brand and model can support 1440x900. Asus z62j and LG T1 are the one of them.

I really like the WXGA resolution of my W3. I've found it to be perfectly suited to my needs.
