Do you have 2 identical memory sticks installed? If not, it will display "single channel". Once you have 2 sticks (enabling it to be in dual channel mode) it should display "dual channel", if the V6V has that capability.

If your v6v is 'stock' meaning its same same from the box, ASUS only installs ONE stick of ram so you can upgrade it yourself if needed.

Much better then giving two smaller sticks.

Remember, the dual channel doesn't wield much better results, only a small difference.

Thats odd. You say it read dual channel and now it doesn't. Are you looking in the same place? Did you change the bios? Something must have changed, even if you're not thinking about it. Is all the ram still registering?

At a certain point (roughtly by the start of May), all V6's started shipping with 1 x 512mb. So if you bought this any time after that, you should have only 1 stick. But I guess you should know what you've got and you said it read dual channel before.
