I got my G1 2 weeks ago. Had no idea there would be a G1s.
Now I'm a little frustrated as the GPU in the new model is obviously superior.
I'm unsure as to whether it would make a huge difference on games like stalker or not but still, wish I had known.
Anyone else with a G1 a bit miffed?

(I do realise how fast the pc market moves, does not mean I'm happy about it :()

I hear you. I knew about the g1s, I couldnt wait another week to be without the laptop (I also used it for work). if I could sell my g1 for about $1500 I would and just get the g1s. Only thing thats a plus for the G1 is that it has windows XP and it's cheaper.

Cheaper, yes, but I don't believe you can get it with XP anymore, unless someone is selling any on eBay. The majority of G1P's that are still available to buy contain Vista Home Premium.

lol i got mine late december/ early january.
sorta regret not waiting, but then again, it's waiting 1/2 a year longer! wait another 1/2 a yr and it's quad core (penryn) in notebooks!

so yeah, the cycle will never end.

I would be upset too. But it is not Asus's fault. They are just trying to get Santa Rosa out to their customers as quick as possible. Intel is the one who released Santa Rosa so quickly...lol

If you had researched harder and longer, you would have known the G1s was coming out two weeks later. I know I sound harsh, but it is true.

I have been researching and saving money since last August.

Then I purchased my G1s this past Tuesday night. I was well aware of the G1s about three weeks ago or so.

But I still feel your pain. :(

nup not at all. there are still supply issues of the G1 in australia, and i don't expect the G1s to be here for another couple of months.

i'm loving my G1 to the max :D

I don't feel bad at all. If I want something better, I can get it, whenever I have the money for it (or more importantly, if I NEED something better).

My friend got a G1-AK024C 2 weeks ago, and he do not regret it at all. He's using Windows XP on the machine, and he didn't really need a video card more powerful than the GF Go 7700, so he's all happy.

Also, since he use Windows XP, and the machine is fully supported by ASUS under this operating system, he did not had to make millions of researches to find any compatible drivers, like I am actually doing about the G1S here -> http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=125693
