    I've always pronounced it (AY-SUS)

I say ABIT, cause they make better motherboards :D

It shows how much asus backs their products, especially cause the main attraction was the girl and not the actual device ;)

I say "ace-us." I know it's "ah-soos" but it sounds better the other way. Also, I heard that the name ASUS is derived from Pegasus. I don't know about you all, but I've never said "Pega-soos"....

Oh my, this topic is back.... "giggles"

Ah- seuss is how the company pronounces it's corparate name, and should be properly used. Comes from Asian pronunciation of their name origins - Pegasus.

English and American people, however, tend to turn the spelling into variations on Ay-seuss or Ay-sus.

    No, it's not.

What language or alphabet would give you that pronunciation?

In American, we tend to pronounce the "A" at the beginning as either
"ah" or long "a", like "apple"- , or "Ace" - long "a".

In most European pronunciations the "A" would be the short a or "ah", like in the word "armoire". The "sus" would NOT be sounded with a "z" on the first "s", it would be a standard "ss" sound.

The "u" would be pronounced "oo", like in the word "too" or German "uber".
And, the final "s" would be, again, an "ss" sound.
So, it would be "ah soos", like Dr. Seuss.
In more American soundage, it's long "a" "suhs", like the "sus" in the word "suspend", or simila, close, to the word "aces".

"Zeus" has a "z" sound, and that's why it's written with "z" at the beginning. It's not "AZUS". It's "ASUS".

Nothing wrong with American, until we start pronouncing "foreign" words using our American vowel sound mess.

Oh, and you English who think Americans are wrong for pronouncing "jaguar" as "jag wahr", at least we put the "r" sound at the end of the word as there is an "r", unlike you English with "jag U ah" with an odd trailing sound. Oh, and when did the word "banana" develop an "r" sound at the end? :D
"You English, you think you're soooo superior." :D

Even though it's the official pronunciation, I never liked "ah-seuss" and have always called it "ay-sus" :)

I call it "'a-sus" or "Ay-sus", the first because of my nothern English accent. :D
The "official" pronunciation just sounds, quite frankly, Dumb. It makes me cringe with embarrassment when somebody says it like that!

You do know ABIT is gonna be shutting down on december 31st right?

They USED to make great motherboards, past couple of years their products haven't been that good.

I've always known it was Ah-soos. But I seriously think it should be Eh-S(schwa)S.

And yes, it is much easier to get it if you're huked on...Yoo-ro-pee-in...fonicks.

All the Romance languages pronounce A as "ah." German does as well, but I don't want to generalize there because I heard Finnish pronounces it as "eh."

The S sound is purely Romantic, as the single German S sounds like a Z.

U is all across Romance and German...except for French. French U's sound like puckered "ee."

    The last S is Romantic.

Although I don't know how relevant this is because ASUS is based in Taiwan.
