There is no screensaver but it goes to standby after awhile, and i can't seem to get it out of it without rebooting. Is there a way to make it so i just stays on all day? I leave it on my desk plugged in and would rather let Aim and other stuff stay open.
Thanks

If you are running Power4Gear go into its configuration and set the settings so that the computer doesn't enter standby or hibernate.
Another thing you should/could do is get the BIOS update from the Asus site for the W3J. It solves the standby issues you're having (it will let you awake from standby properly, without having to restart). -
Go to Power options, set the power scheme to sth that prevents from standby.
Apart from that never ever let windows turn off the monitor it will not turn on.If you use FN+F7 the LCD will be dimmed very much but will ont turn off. -

You also consider to change the setting as "Never" on the "System standby", "System hibernates" and "Turn off monitor" under the "Power options Properties". It never make to turn it off.

Anyone please help me. I had the computer on in Battery save mode. After a while, I closed my W3J. After 20-30 minutes, I reopen. Press a key. The screen remains pitch black. Hold the power button for a while, stays the same. FInally as a last resort, I press the tiny Shut down button under the notebook. It shuts down the computer. I heard that a bios upgrade fixes this issue. My bios version is: W3JAS.207
I went into power settings and put never in the hibernate, standby and turn off hard disk.
I went to the ASUS webpage, looked for a BIOS for my W3J. Found two but for Yonah. I'm not sure if this will work for mines which is Intel Duo Core T2500.
Thank you. -

Probably, your w3j's cpu is a Yonah, not a Merom. Before updating a BIOS, try to install a fresh windows, and make sure that a new windows and all the utilities can control the machine keep it from turning off properly. After doing this, if the problem is still there, we can eliminate the software issue, and focus on dealing with all the hardware or firmware such as BIOS.

Ok, I did a quick test and it seems that everything is running well. Thank you milestonepc. I just rechecked my power setting, and applied never to all the power options. For now, the problem has vanished into thin air. THanks for you help again. If it continues to persist, I'll post again.

instead of setting it to never, just make sure in your P4G settings that your hard drive timeout is longer than your stand-by timeout. I had the same problem when i went to class today and i didn't use my computer for about 10 minutes during the lecture. After i changed the settings everything was all good....well for me at least

LOL, funny how we had the same e xperiance in class. Luckily mines was near the end of the class.
I had to press the force shut down button under the notebook. Useful little thing.
Thanks for the reply.

cant you just turn off p4g and let windows take care of power management? it seems like youre not the only ones who have had trouble with asus' power management software
How do i keep my W3J from turning off?
