I would like to reformat the HDD on my K750J and re install windows 8.1 from my recovery partition but I don’t know how. No problem if I had the OS on a DVD
I copied with Reflect the recovery & boot partitions to 3 DVD’s but the DVD’s are not bootable and when I use the Reflect PE there are no files I can find to do this job
Has anyone done it and how?

You have to use RDVD to do the format and recovery.
Can you check each of the disc's content?

    Thanks Kevin for the help

For some reason I can’t access the contents of the DVD’s I made yesterday and I asked Reflect to tell me why. However I was able to check the contents of the recovery partitions on my HDD and there is no file or directory called RDVD

The most likely place to have an executable is the Restore Partition #6 (10.11GB) which has 3 folders: RecoveryBoot, RecoveryImage and System Volume Info. On these folders the only files which may do the job is Boot.win (318MB) or Install.win (9.7GB)

Partition #1 is call System Fat 32(LBA) which is 25.6MB and it has one folder called EFI and one root file called Bootsect.bak (512 B)

Partition #2 is called Recovery Partition, 433MB and it has 7 directories with many small files which non to me will do the job

It is strange that we have to go thru all this hustle to do something so simple and which Asus should have provide all required instructions

BTW Asus told me that they don’t sell recovery CD/DVD. Would you happen to know where I can get one?

    Boot.wim & Install.wim are what you needed.
I don't have exact details, but I believe you can use an USB flash drive to do the recovery.

Here's also a tutorial from ASUS.

To get to the built in system recovery partition on your hard drive you want to turn the computer off, turn it on, and start continually pressing F9 right away and that should get you into the restore console.

Finally this is how I got mine to re-install win8.1

First I bought a 32GB USB and using the Asus Backtracker copied the recovery partition and whatever it wants to the USB. This USB must be emptied and you can’t copy other files on it

Then I reboot: pressing F9 while booting gives you a choice of some windows tools or pressing ESC during reboot gives you a choice of the available drives to boot from

I used ESC and selected the USB and the process started. Takes about 30 minutes and then after reboot your new windows starts with the config prompts which I never liked

At least now I can easily re install when I want

It should be pretty fast off of the USB stick too.

You can also launch the recovery process from within Windows by using the 'reset' feature in Windows 8.1.
