I recently had to send in my w3v for repares, and tech support did not put my case back on good. It is not snapped in place on the right side and the s-video out connection is partially covered. I tried to take it to a local shop to get it fixed but the guy said he would have to take the case off and put it back on, which would cost almost $100. Does anyone know of a guide on how to disassemble the w3v so I can fix it myself.

no guide is going to help you there. The s-video port has to go in the hole first.... otherwise you get what you got. I have hard time believing Asus' guys in California would ever miss something like that..... all of the motherboards need to go in s-video first to avoid that... I'd almost call them and tell them what happened and send them a picture of the port.

You'd need to disassemble the entire thing.... I'd walk you through it, but I don't have all night and it's not worth it for you to void your warranty or maybe cause more damage.

I work at a computer store that services Dell, IBM, Toshiba, and Apple laptops mostly. You'd be surprised the condition IBM regularly ships laptops back to us in (when we get swamped with service, we mail stuff out). 50% of the time, no lie, the machine needs further repairs due to something that happened while at IBM.

Why don't you just go back to the guys that did this in the first place?

If not then contact Asus in california.

    Cheers,
    Mike

    proportable,

can you post simple instructions on how to take apart the w3/z63a. It would help tremendously to see if i can stick the dvdcombo drive into the media bay that way instead of trying to shove it in.

Asus is who did this. I sent it to them for repairs over Christmas break. The problem now is that I am in school and I have to have my laptop. I can't afford to send it off and wait 2 or more weeks to get it back, and the local repair shops want a lot of money to fix this small problem. I may just have to deal with it untill the summer. Then I can do without it for a week or two. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

You will have to send it back in. The z63a and w3v are the hardest to dismantle. Its no picknick.
