How does this Asus compare to the popular models often mentioned and discussed in the Asus section?

It has a T7700 cpu. How does it compare to the T83100/T8300 in the other notebooks? Is it significantly slower? Does it produce a lot more heat or is there any negative in choosing this (older?) cpu? I think the specs are decent but would the dedicated Nvidia graphics make the computer emit even more heat/power?

I think it's a nice feature set including hdmi. I am comparing this laptop to the Thinkpad T61 and Dell XPS M1330. I want something/portable/light but probably at the most, 14" screen and it needs Intel 4965agn wireless (I want to use Linux). As for graphics, I have no preferences but have been looking at Intel X3100 graphics for the most part since I don't game and wanted something light. However, for the price, the Nvidia graphics in this particular laptop looks good. If I go with dedicated graphics, I probably want Nvidia.

Is there any Asus laptops with similar specs but a faster cpu (for e.g., T8100)? I think the T7700 is probably fast enough but I'm concerned more about the heat output.

The V2s is a business class notebook and is built much stronger than any other Asus (probably on par with the U series).
The 7700 CPU won't be a slouch at all and performs almost identical to the t8300. The only drawback is it uses slightly more power than the penryn t8300.

The performance of the 8600m GS in the V2s is sub-par though, due to a 64-bit bus. It performs only slightly better than a 8400m GS.

The build is actually dissapointing for a business laptop. It's below the U-series, and definitly below the W-series (let's not speak about thinkpads). However, it's better than consumer laptops like the Asus F8 or HP DV2700.
