I'm going to try clocking mine to 600/1000/1400 stable (and cool) once my copper blocks come in. Currently running "stock" at 550/950/1375.
What are the highest people use stable (Furmark or other)?

Wow, that's really high overclock you got there EIement. Real manly.

That's because you clocked your memory so damn high without a high enough voltage increase. Also, you guys are using a neutered GTX 260M that has no HE tab.
Keep your memory at 950MHz or below and crank the core/shader. -
mine is 610/995/1535, in my sig. sadly...i cant reach element's OC. whatever tho, my laptop is always @ 585/950/1475 for games, those high OC are just meant for 3dmark.
-
Actually soviet, I can run it at 615/1000/1550. My shaders won't go above 1600 stable with an OC. Even at 575/950/1600 I get crashes @ 2.7GHz CPU OC
-
awww i just tried ocing and i failed @ 612/1000/1555...dammit i need to revert back to DOX 185 to OC higher. on 186.82, my OC fails even @ the one in my sig.

That's because both you and EIement are still running on factory voltage. If you want to push your clocks real high, raise the voltage.

And watch their GPU bake their laptop's innards. I'll leave the GPU-peen to you guys.

Mmmm tasty bbq laptop innards.

I have a Clevo clocked at 300/300. Trying to get to 680/1700/1000 is like trying to climb my way up from hell with SACH7002 and Heathkidd in my backpack.

Wow, you guys have quite high clocks. I haven't tried OC at all because I don't have problems running any game right now.
I might try it later on, once I do the copper and backpanel mod. I might just get it to real stock clocks of the GTX 260M. -
After I get my mods done I will be forever clocked at 600/950/1550.
-
ROFL, I hand it to you Forge and Soviet Sunrise, I haven't laughed so hard in these forums ever
!
Back on topic though, I sadly can't get any stable overclock on my GTX 260M beside getting it to stock settings. Asus underclocked our GTX 260m (500/800/1250) and I can get it to real stock settings (550/950/1375) but that's it.
EIement, how do you get such high clocks? I'm going to try what you've mentioned in overclocking the CPU to certain speeds. I know with my P8700 @ 2.88GHZ or stock I get driver errors during 3DMark if I go higher than real stock settings. -
I only clock mine at the true stock settings for the card.
I'm to worried to go above that - -
-
If we are talking about GPU overclocking, shouldn't the analogy be, how deep a hole you can dig down towards the center of the Earth before your flesh is flayed from your bones?
-
. I guess a few have a very good GTX 260M that is happy to overclock and some just have a dud (like myself). At least I'm able to get real stock settings for my GTX 260M, there's a guy on this forum (don't remember his name) who can't even get that - meaning he has to play his games underclocked. I feel for him because that must suck...
-
My temps don't break 90C when OC'd -

i got banned for swearing...O NOES, he used the s-word, he is a bad boy/how you put as an "e-thug". and ive been preyed on most of the time...for what apparent reason? wth have i done that you constantly belittle me?
and the fun you make of others is a mistake that they did, is it a mistake that i live? that is the pure reason? i respond like this cuz im freakin sick of it, if it was once in a while i understand but its nearly every thread i respond to. even if im not in the thread, you always mention me, as im the symbol of pure fail.
im not mentioning what i observe about element cuz its related to his life in general, not a mistake he did. and besides that, i dont want to be an "e-thug" (and get banned), i think we have enuf of them in this forum, or at least one person who can take up that job single-handedly. i guess i will ignore you for the rest my days in NBR, i certainly know the bad n the good in this forum now. diss me after this comment or whatever you want...you're rite, the proper response to your comments is no response. -
Glad this topic came up. Whenever I overclock my gpu to the "stock" clocks while playing Fallout 3, about after 5 minutes, the game will minimize (which is a because it's a common bug where you can't remaximize it) and then the GPU goes to super low clocks like 200/250/425 or something around there. Then, I can't get it back up until I reboot. Anyone know of this issue? And is there a way I can boot up with the stock clocks with the nvidia system tools or whatever? I hate having to keep switching the profile.
Edit, my temps on fallout 3 after 2 hours of gameplay on the asus underclocked setting never exceeded 71C. After about the 5 minutes I could get in before it would minimize, about 75C. -

^ i think he means powermizer is getting stuck @ the 200 low-mode, so the nvidia system tool wont do anything. for that you can download the PowerMizer Switch from a helpful member here, and all-around turn off powermizer if the new drivers dont help.
but i wouldnt recomend doing that, only a last resort effort. no way should your clocks stick to the underclocks of powermizer. try 186.82 WHQL drivers, those should make things rite. -
Well, how do I change my boot up profile, I've searched google and can't find anything.

Well I updated my drivers. Ran fallout 3 for 5 minutes. Ran smooth and then it downclocked and now I have to reboot...
-
hmm that really weird, try the thing i told you and see if its maybe fallout's fault? do 186.82 + powermizer off, then reboot, run fallout 3 and report back.
-
my clocks stay at the asus stock clock. I don't seem to have powermizer. where can I get it?
-
thanks for nothing element....I don't think it's possible to get powermizer. The feature is integrated with the video card...but cute little link there. I'd ask you to show me how to do that, but I figured you'd just do it again.
I figured it out already. I thought I d/l'ed the lated nvidia drivers. powermizer is working now. -
Powermizer is part of the drivers. and you /can/ get it. all you do to "get it" is press a button. but apparently, instead of actually doing any research (or even i dunno, using the link I posted, it'd be the second link from the top) you just came back to a giant . Brilliant of you. Just brilliant. Last time I try giving you any information.
-
please, show me how to get powermizer. I couldn't even find on nvidia's site. I know how to use search engines. If I can't find it there, then I generally go to the forums to ask. but then I have to deal with people like you.
-
Lmao. you have to deal with people like me who link you to exactly what you need to know. +1 lulz.
-
-
If you'd read (and not just continue to try belittling me) I have already stated powermizer is /not/ a standalone program but is part of the drivers. I have also told you exactly which link to click. It is not my fault you are too lazy to do so. This shall be my last post concerning you.
-
-
Powermizer switch is a standalone application that alters registry settings to turn it on and off. If you are somewhat competent, you can also alter the registry on your own.
-
Disregard several previous posts. Again, my apologies to EIement. -
186.8x does refer to the GPU driver version.
How high have you clocked your GTX 260M?
