I am going to pick one up this week though i was curious as how hot it runs? Is it comfortable to be on your lap for hours? or do you have to put it down after a little bit. As well what is the average battery life when your not running the system all out, around 2+ hours would you say?

    Thanks in advance

Not hot, just warm. You can have it on your lap the entire time.

If you go all out on your system it's 1hour exactly, but it shuts down like at 5-10minutes left.

If you go lowest power settings and barely have any lighting on your screen it was around 2hours 17minutes.

It gets pretty hot under the laptop, so I wouldn't recommend having it on your lap for too long, unless you get a cooling pad. I use the Thermaltake I-Xoft which is designed to prevent heat from hitting the body, and doesn't require any power. Plus it's pretty cheap.

I get 2 1/4 hours to 2 3/4 hours with the G1S on Battery Saving Mode. That's with WLAN enabled, screen brightness set to 7%, and Aero turned off (Vista Basic instead). Unfortunately you have to turn off Aero manually, by going to Color and Window Settings. But it makes a significant difference in battery life turned off.

You are right that it's warm, not hot. But it's high enough temperature to cause discomfort, and for males you do run the risk of sexual damage over long-term use.

Wow you get 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 with windows aero off? Plus you have a 7200rpm hdd? Guess i'll try turning that off, don't even know what windows aero is good for, thanks!
