How is the screen on the A8J or V2Je?

I'm asking because it's a bit hard to find these. I've only seen the screen of the Asus Ferrari, it looked good to me and although it's 15.4" and bit higher end I'd like to know how the screen on the A8J ou V2Je compare.

I can only speak for the A8Js, but so far it's been great. Uniform colour and brightness, no visible problems. Of course, one person's opinion of a particular screen is entirely subjective, so you may want to try and find a demo unit that you can look at somewhere. Also, there are different screens for the different versions of the A8J; for example, the A8Jm has a 1280x800 screen, whereas the A8Js has a 1440x900.

Pretty much impossible to demo them beforehand. I've only found shops that order them, but don't carry stock.

I know that traditionally the V-series screens are higher quality than the A-series screens.

Considering the V2 is not 'technically' out in North America, we can't say :p

I've seen them both side by side.

The V2Je does have a better screen, the colors seemed more accurate, the vertical viewing angles seemed about the same to me though. I forgot to compare the screen against a G1 though.

If you are picky about displays like how I am and interested in doing any type of work on it I would not recommend the A8J.

While we're at it. If someone also compared the G1's screen, I'd appreciate the input.

I think this is something to ask the Asus resellers from PROPortable, MilestonePC. btotech, etc. They'll have much more experience dealing with these sorts of comparisons than your regular user, considering they spend all day around these machines.

Meh. I'd say the V1 screen will be pretty close in quality to the V2 screen. I'd use the V1 screen as a benchmark :p

I just got the A8jp ... and if the A8jp has the same screen as the A8js ... then the screen sucks. (In comparison). My Dell 2200 15 inch Matte screen display (most basic computer ever), has a brighter screen. The the sparkles are noticeable, makes the whites dirty especially.

I can live with the screen, but to tell yourself its anything but a crappy screen in comparison to all the other ones out there in laptops is just lying to yourself really.

if your dell is old enough it had a sharp screen. The first inspirons had more top line lcds.

However, the a8js screen is at 220 nits and your inspiron is about 180 nits screen ( if not lower)

It is pretty much impossible that your inspiron had a brighter screen.

I like my a8jp. It's a solid notebook, but I'd be lying if I said that the screen was acceptable. The screen really sucks and I plan on replacing it. Aside from the overly-strong anti-glare coating, it also has a strong blue-ish tint and looks washed out.

MelchiorZ and Jollins, you both have the AUO screen?
