I am thinking about getting a Asus eee pc 900ha and was wondering if i could upgrade the RAM. i currently have 2 x 1GB 667Mhz sticks. can i install those?

it's got one RAM slot, and i think you need DDR2 667mhz RAM (SO-DIMM, naturally). so you should be good.
-
so that 1gb of ram is built in? and one slot free for expansion

No, just one slot. You can take out the supplied 1GB ram stick and replace it with a 2GB stick. My 901 has one stick of 2GB OCZ DDR2-800 ram. -
It can only use 1GB of RAM. Even if you stick a 2GB stick in there, it will only recognize 1GB.
-
why is that? i just installed a new stick and like you said it only recognizes 1gb. specs say its upgradable to two though, and i've read if some peope doing it successfully.

^bump !!
Would like to know as well ... -

That is not true. My XP EEE 901 has 2GB of DDR2-800 ram, and XP recognizes it fine. Rapion125 may be thinking of the Poulsbo chipset which allows only 1GB or ram, but no EEE's use that, so they can all use 2GB. -
go into the BIOS, and ensure it shows 2GB there, then you should be good to go, the OS should see 2GB after as well.
How much RAM does the Asus EEE PC 900HA support and how many slots are there?
