    Hello,

I might be looking to sell my c90 for something more portable. I was wondering how much I could sell it for. This c90 has no problems with memory or heat problems or wireless problem.

That seems pretty high to me considering you can get a brand new Asus, or other brand laptop, with similiar or better specs for $2-500 less than that. About the only thing going for this C90 is the FSB on the processor, but the performance from that is going to be negligible with most newer laptop.

So you are saying you can find a bunch of E6700, 3GB, MXM-II based laptops for $1100... Where??? Maybe you can find the barebones for that price but equipped with all the stuff he has and it's going to jack the price up a good bit.

    Klok99ah,

I paid $1850 for mine last September with everything equipped in my signature. Our configurations are exactly the same except I have 64bit Vista. I'd probably try to price it around $1400 if you really want to sell it.

I recently sold my C90s for $1000 shipped but with slightly different specs. I had the E6600 CPU, 160gb 7200rpm HDD, 8600m GT DDR2, and XP OS.
I'd probably say $1100-$1200 would be the right sale price.

you have to consider who you are asking.

the people here know where to get laptops for cheaper than retail.

ebayers dont so really the answer is whatever you get for it.

Agreed, my only gripe with my C90S is the fact it's kind of ugly. The "turbo engine" looks nice, but the rest of the lines are lacking in my opinion. Either way congrats on the new Asus!

    Stamar,

You have a good point. With a laptop as exclusive (or rather unknown) as the C90S, you don't have a whole lot of control over what you can resell it for.

No, I am saying that you can get a brand new laptop with similar/close/maybe better specs for less than what he is asking. The C90 is cool but to me it was kind of gimmicky. Where did you get that I was saying I could find a bunch of E6700 laptops for $1100? I said that that was about the only thing that that laptop had going for it, over other configurations out now, that perform almost as well with much lower power consumption. I guess you can twist my words anyway you want, but I don't know what was unfair or so hard to understand about I said. I mean comeon, we are talking about used electronics....

But at the same time, ebayers aren't familiar with the Asus brand....
It's still a hit or miss chance... if you're lucky you'll get an ignorant buyer who's willing to pay more than retail, but on the other hand, you may not get any bids at all. For me, I didn't want to risk having little bids if i started a $0.99 or having no buyers if i did a BIN listing and would have to relist and relist again. But it's really your call. This may be a good time to sell since tax returns are right now, but it'll still be risky selling something that's not well known.

I'm not twisting your words at all... Klok99ah was looking to get $1600 for his C90S and you said "That seems pretty high to me considering you can get a brand new Asus, or other brand laptop, with similiar or better specs for $2-500 less than that."

$1600 - $500 = $1100... So that means to me you are saying he can find a laptop that is equipped as well (or close) as the C90S for $1100. All I'm saying is that is a pretty hard thing to do. The M50SV-A1 comes pretty close, but to be fair, you should be comparing the price of another laptop that uses desktop processors and MXM graphics modules.

I agree with you on the fact that used electronics generally never hold there value. I'm not really sure why you got so defensive to my post, I don't think I said anything that can be considered an attack. But hey, I don't feel like getting into an argument and stealing Klok99ah's post, so sorry if I offended you.

I have been seeing c90s on ebay going for 700ish starting and finshing just under or just over 1000$ Thing is most of these are new units :/ A used one probably wont go for much at all.

I wanted to sell mine for awhile, but with the few problems I have and never worked out I could never sleep at night knowing I sold it to a person like that, and risk bad feedback or transaction problems if they person does not fully agree and understand on what they are buying.

Now instead of selling it, I am just looking forward to the c90p and seeing what I may be able to do to cheaply upgrade. If the world was a perfect place asus would do this cool as hell trade in program where we can trade in our c90s for a huge discount for a c90p to make good on this buggy system.

They could even USE most of the c90s and just upgrade it to the c90p (hdd, cpu, optical, ram, case, screen all can stay, just need the new mobo and internals)

I really wish there was a way for me to talk Asus into doing something cool like that. However before I wish for a C90P so badly lets see how it is and if it retains any of the current issues (I know 4gb of ram is fixed, but more concerned with how picky it is with ram)

    Vicious,

Yeah I'm getting pretty tired of the C90S' issues as well. Hopefully they test the C90P more before shipping it so Asus customers don't have the burden of fixings there mistakes : /

Still, when it's actually running 100% it's a pretty powerful machine. If only we had an MXM-II graphics upgrade... Everything seems to be MXM-III or higher these days. Sigh.

Thats the cool thing about the C90P to its confirmed to support the 8700gt with DDR3 and thats a MXMIII card, so ether they have made a MXM2 version or upgraded to MXM3 for the new revision.

Looks like the c90 is indeed an upgradeable laptop, but instead of upgrading the components in it like it was supposed to be, looks like many c90s owners may end up keeping components and upgrading the c90 instead :p

I just need to see if the 775 core2duo we have now work in the P35 chipset or if its only wolfdale. I am pretty sure they work but need to go confirm.

Yeah it does I just needed to refresh my memory if P35 was exclusive to the 1333mhz cpu or just allowed use of them.

P35 supports the current 65nm cpus and allows for the use of the faster/better 45nm cpu (wolfdale) so we are golden.

I didn't take offense to the post, this is what this thread was made for. It's good to discuss. At the same time I didn't think it was fair to take the extreme low $ amount I suggested and use it as a basis in a disagreement.

I just think that if you could get anywhere between the $1100-1400 ballpark, since I said $2-500 less than the asking price, you'd be within the realm of what it was worth. Even then that seems like a premium though, and judging by what others have said, that seems right. I guess you'd have to find someone that didn't really know what they were looking for, or someone who was looking exactly for something like this. The person who is going to be specifically looking for something like this isn't going to pay a premium price.

At any rate, good luck with the sale. Hopefully you can get a good amount out of it. I know it sucks to have all of this money into something and lose out :(
