Hi all first post here at the forums. I read the sticky up top and also tried a few searches but I found nothing that applied to my specific case. If I'm supposed to post this in the G2S owners lounge then sorry for the mistake.

But anyway how are you supposed to remove the hard drive? I want to put a Seagate 320GB 7200 RPM drive inside. The hard drive is currently fit quite tightly inside the notebook and I am afraid I'm gonna break something if I pull too hard. I have seen people all over the forums who say upgrading the hard drive is easy so maybe I missed something. Thanks for any help.

Hi chaman, and welcome to the forums :)
Unfortunately, we currently do not have a dissasembly guide for the G2 series laptop, but removing the HDD shouldn't be too difficult of a task.
First and foremost, remove the battery and press the power button to release any remaining charge in your laptop. Remove the 2 screw on the HDD cover. Slightly pull the black tab vertically and pull it away from the connector (to the right if you have the laptop oriented like the picture below)

Make sure you backup all your existed data from your old hard drive before attempting to replace it with the new. Since you'll be using the same drivers, you could simply use Acronis True Image to clone your old hard drive to your new hard drive. That way, you won't have to reinstall your operating system, drivers, Asus utilities and other personal software all over again.

That you for the help David. I managed to get the HDD out but am presented with another problem. The screws too tight on the case and refuse the come out. Like Asus wants us to not replace the HDD :(

Once you remove the HDD from the laptop, there should be a bracket that is secured with 4 screws on to the hard drive unit itself. Is this what you're referring to? If so, it should come out. Try using a larger/longer screw driver. It will eventually work ;)
