Hi,
Where can I find CMOS battery in ASUS A6RP ? I need to reset it because i cannot get into bios settings. Notebook hangs on first screen (with asus logo). There i can press F2 to Amibios settings, but there is only one screen and nothing to change.
Regards
-
After you have pressed F2 what screen do you get?
-
I get Amibios screen with basic specifications. I will upload photo in moment.

Alllllrighty then

Try first the > o < button on the belly of the notebook (pinhole button, like the mechanical eject button on ODDs). That should also reset BIOS settings.
Otherwise see here for related disassembly manuals: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=122632#disassembly

Very helpfull post E.B.E. Good stuff.
-
OK. I tried your tricks. When i unplugged HDD notebook wanted to boot but it cant (logical). What to do now ?
-
-
I plugged it and problem appears again.
-
Bejronix? Did you manage to find the reset button E.B.E. told you about?
-
Yes. It didnt help
-
So with the HDD removed and the reset button pressed the system will still not let you into the bios?
-
It would seem then that the HDD has gone bad. Real bad -- like, electrical problems of some kind.
Or, more likely, that the ATA controller is not working properly.
A good way is to test the HDD in another system, or in an enclosure. -
Another possibility: you have either dead or disconnected keyboard that is why you can't enter BIOS and NB can't boot
-
OK. When HDD is unplugged i can get into BIOS.
-
Sorry but it sounds like your HDD is dying if not dead allready.
Do you have access to a Laptop to PC HDD converter cable/caddy?
Is your HDD SATA or IDE? -
I think IDE - look at his posted photos
-
Duh? How silly of me! LOL!
If you can get a laptop to pc IDE converter you may be able to plug the HDD into another PC and see if you can access it that way. If you can you could then run a chkdsk /r
Just read some previous posts and it looks like I'm just confirming what E.B.E has said. Dam when did that post appear? I must be blind! LOL! -
1. unplug your hard drive.
2. enter BIOS
3. set BIOS to 'default settings' and save on exit
4. Plug in hard drive
5. Run again
Do not forget to remove battery when needed. -
It doesnt help too.
-
I think it is dead piece.
It can be hard drive or motherboard or something else - I have no clue what else can be done -
I'm going to service tommorow. I hope they help me for small fee. Anyway thank you.
-
Please post if you can what was the problem.
-
Sorry, double post
-
Service, or like we said before if you have an enclosure you can test the HDD. If it's not the HDD I think the ATA controller or something else on the mainboard went AWOL.
-
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem that you did, can you tell me what it was? And how did you solve it?
Thanks -
That is the answer, which i sent to MeRiNo who found me at youtube and asked me about this problem, maybe someone will use my "advice"
