    Hi,

I have Windows 7 now and I want to dual boot it with vista, only question I have is how do I install it on the partitioned part of my HDD?

I know how to boot from CD and everything like that and when I was installing windows 7 I was never given the option to install on the partitioned part and I have stuff on the vista OS that I do not want to delete.

    Short and to the point:

How do I install 7 so that I do not overwrite vista?

    Thanks! :D

There's absolutely no point in dual booting Vista and 7, as that would be incredibly redundant, but anyhow, the installer definitely asks you where you want to install.

There's a point... for now (myriad of driver issues and bugs with Windows 7, that would affect games and other things).

I'm not just dual booting 7 I will be tri booting with Xp once I learn how to do all of this! It's a learning process that I'm after right now.

Thanks for the screen shot, I also found this if anyone else needs help:

"Installing Windows 7 on your new partition. So insert your Windows 7 disc and reboot your computer (you'll need to have enabled booting from your DVD drive in your system BIOS, but most PCs will have this enabled by default).

Once the DVD boots up it's a simple matter of following along with the fairly simple installation wizard. When you're choosing installation type, be sure to select Custom (advanced) and choose the partition you set up above. (Be careful here. Choosing the wrong partition could mean wiping your other Windows installation altogether, so make sure you pick the new partition you just created.)

After you select the partition, go grab yourself a drink and let the installer do its work. Windows will run through some installation bits, restart a few times in the process. Eventually you'll be prompted to set up your account, enter your license key, and set up Windows. Keep your eyes open for fun new Windows 7 features, like your new homegroup (and the accompanying password). When it's finished, you're up and rolling with your new Windows 7 installation."

I haven't gotten the touch buttons on the G50 to work correctly in 7, but that's mostly me not installing the drivers correctly, and not caring enough to fix it. Otherwise, everything works fine.

There's not much to learn from a triple boot that you can't learn from a dual boot. I would highly recommend dual booting Ubuntu or a different distro of Linux. Much more to learn.

You haven't been hit with the litany of Nvidia Forceware issues affecting things from Powermizer to Steam and other games...

Powermizer issues I haven't run into since I don't use this thing off AC. But I also haven't seen any Steam issues, and I run all of my games through Steam.
