I don't know if Asus has up the download up on their site yet, but there is a new Power4Gear version called "Extreme"... It visually matches the high res icons of Vista and was designed to run on it. It's being included on the new Vista models, so it should be available for download on their site.

You'll be able to find it at this page when available... I'd suggest bookmarking it for future use:

In Vista, do a search for files and, you know Windows + F, type "Power" or smething that will show where it is located.

Take the P4G icon, put it into your Startup folder.

Restart the laptop and it should start up.

Also check your msconfig adn startup, and see if you can turn it on there.

Why not use Vista's power management? Power4Gear does nothing more, and Asus software is, to be blunt, ****.

That might be true, but it is convenient to have the button mapped to switch power profiles, which might not be easy in Vista (I have to admit, I have never tried).

When you rightclick on the battery icon in the taskbar, you will see the P4G icon ;)
