    Asus - Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 14" Display / 4GB Memory / 640GB Hard Drive - Dark Bamboo - U43JC-BBA7

Best Buy has no idea, I called Asus and they don't even have it in their system.

-Does this unit have the I5-450m or the I5-430m? Obviously it states in the listing the I5-450m, but it also says "2.26 processor speed" which is the processor speed for the I5-430m.

-Does this laptop really only have the 0.3mp webcam? In the Asus May/June catalog it states this laptop has the 2.0mp webcam. I called Best Buy and Asus and again Asus doesnt have it in their system and if I spoke to say 5 different Best Buy reps on the phone I got 5 different answers.

How can a company 1) sell a product and have no official specs on the product and 2) Even worse, how could a company, Asus, manufacture a product without any info of the actual specs?

Couple things I want to point out:

    1) Best Buy Models all ALWAYS dialed down. You usually get less appealing screens, lower end CPU, webcam...etc. You don't even get the same warranty as the regular models. Asus usually has no info on bestbuy models, they seem to operate separately.

    2) Judging from the price, I'm gonna say its most likely a i5-450m. There is another model on bestbuy and the difference is $50.00 I'm gonna guess that the difference between i5-430 and i5-450. The webcam is most likely a 0.3 mp webcam and the screen is most likely a less superior screen since the announced price for the Asus' Spec Versions were around $1090 and I doubt Best Buy would sell it at a lower price for the same specs.

    3) This laptop is very new. It was announced like a month ago I believe. The specs on Asus website should update shortly. I think the links on best buy's website should have been preorders.

    4) I'd advise you not buy this laptop at BestBuy

I was looking at their UL80J, and I was planning on getting it...however, your post is making me reconsider it, ever so slightly. The UL series is already known to have mediocre screens, keyboards, and touchpads. But for $700 (for the UL80J), I'm willing to sacrifice one year of the warranty.

Just to clarify, the official warranty of Asus is 2 Year Global Warranty, 1 Year Battery Warranty, 30 Day Zero Bright Dot LCD Warranty, and 1 Year Accidental Damage Warranty which includes fires, drops, spils and surges.

I already ordered it lol....I have to buy from Best Buy as I have a gift card that is enough to pay for the whole system and have $80.00 left over. Actually the difference between the one I posted a link to and the one that is $50 cheaper is the cheaper version has only the Intel Graphics with WIDI technology. While the one I ordered has the Nvidia optimus Technology.
Also, according to the May/June Asus Catalog that was posted on this website is that both of the bamboo models has a 2.0mp webcam. It is a wait and see.

I assume when I receive it, the full specs of the laptop will be listed on a sticker of some sort on the outside of the box. If it has the I5-430m with a 0.3mp webcam. I won't even open it, I'll bring it to my local best buy and exchange it for the Toshiba M645.

Also, quick question where it says under sound: "Integrated 2W Altec Lansing speakers for quality audio" do you think that is 2w each speaker for a total of 4watts or 2 watts total which means 1w each speaker?

Interesting 3 USB 2.0 instead of one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0.

I have a question the two links that you showed has the Asus U43JC-A1, while Best Buy has the Asus U43JC-BBA7. Is there any difference between the A1 version and the BBA7 version that Best Buy has listed? Or is it the same laptop?

Also, the two other websites mention built in Bluetooth, I have never since I have been researching this website seen it mentioned anywhere that bluetooth is offered on this laptop and there is no mention of it on BestBuy.com. Anyone know if Bluetooth is actually built in this laptop? Also, the two websites mentioned shows it includes WIDI (Intel Wireless Display), while Best Buy doesnt mention it. Both mentioned it have Nvidia Optimus Technology. But the Best Buy doesnt mention the WIDI. There is the U43F on BestBuy.com that DOESNT have the Nvidia Optimus Technology but does have the WIDI. Does the BestBuy.com U43JC have the WIDI as well?

I have no clue dude, but read a few posts up about BB models always being different. They likely aren't going to be identical models, so there will be differences.

Best I can tell you is Xotic posts frequently on notebookreview and has stated that they get their info and specs direct from Asus, so that is the agreement of what they are selling as preorder.

You should contact BB to see if they can provide more details of what specs are on the models they are pre-selling. No one on this message board can confirm any of that for you.

Again the models on Best Buy are always different and yes the models on Xoticpc and Gentech have Bluetooth and anything mentioned on the site. Even if the official specs does not have bluetooth in them. Xoticpc and Gentech will put them in for you if you request them to. And according to their site (Price from Xoticpc) $1061.60 includes the bluetooth. Xoticpc and Gentech also has the official Asus Warranties too I believe

I wouldn't be surprised, as I said before best buy models are always downgraded for a lower price. Since the general public probably won't care if they have a USB3.0 (or know of its existence) yet.

I'm basing this on my experience with the Asus G73JH series
between G73JH-RBBX05 and G73JH-A1 which differs in:
*Screen Quality (lower resolution + quality on BB model)
*Ram (6 instead of 8 GB of ram on BB model)
*Optical Drive (DVD instead of Blueray on BB model)
*Harddrive (500GB instead of 1TB on BB model)

Its just a wait and see game as non of the companies that are offering it really know what specs are with this unit as I called them. I rather have the Asus but if it doesnt come with everything its supposed to (I5-450m, 2.0mp webcam), I will just return it and get the Toshiba M645.

Screen Quality (lower resolution + quality on BB model)
-I can understand the version through Best Buy coming with a lower resolution screen, but your actually stating that the Best Buy unit comes with a lower quality screen?

Now it looks like the U43JC-BBA7 is back on the Best Buy site. It is not showing USB 3 while the U43F-BB5 does. It looks like the only difference is the NVidia Optimus Technology in the JC and they took away the USB 3. And the price is $150 more for the JC.
