Hello I would like to update my bios from the current 0604 bios to the latest 0803 bios on my Asus C90P. I have downloaded the 0803 rom bios file but have no idea how to flash it as I have always used the handy iso cd install uploaded by Ken at gentechpc when I had the C90S.

If anyone could lead me through the necessary and hopefully easy steps to successfully use this rom file to update the bios I will be very grateful :) as I need it to run the Q9650 processor that I have already installed.

edit: I have a bootable usb stick that I have used for nvflash in the past if this helps.

you would make it in this way, but you should have a USB stick, or falsh disk, and a little software called UltraISO installed in your computer at first,

step 1: find a good, useable USB disk, its volume needn't to be too big, remove all the documents in it. then insert to the USB port in your computer.

step 2: prepared the very version BIOS 0803. which is in .iso format. it is about 34MB, isn't it??

step 3: launch the application UltraISO, trun to meun'FILE'---'OPEN', choose the BIOS file and open it,

step 4:turn to menu 'BOOTABLE DISK'---'MAKE HARD-DISK IMAGE',which is the fourth option of the this menu.

step 5: when a dialague box pop up, check whether the information is OK or not; if OK, choose 'MORMAT', then 'YES', then choose 'WRITE'. the writing process will cost about a quarter minute. click 'RETURN' after this is done.shut down the application.
now a bootable flash disk is prepared.
Remove your flash disk safe.(if you have such habit to remove it after each time used.)
Insert this flash disk into your ASUS C90P notebook.reboot your notebook.
hit 'Esc' key before it start, choose your Flash disk as the first boot device.
you'll find WINDOWS 98 flashes, and disappers soon, then the string window appear, follow the instruction: type 'update', then hit 'ENTER' to upgrade your BIOS version.it costs about one minute to finish writing.
I made it, the latest version BIos was saved on March, 18th, 2009, version number is 0803, Wish you'll make it as me.
while, it seems your C90P has a four-core CPU installed, it is so powerful, so I wonder if my C90P would be able to use some new-processd CPU, the 45nm-ed ones, such as Pentium E6300, or Core II E6850 with the latest version. bios 0803, thanks for your reply, my email address is [email protected], or [email protected]. Thanks very much for your kindly reply.
    God bless you....

Hello Cutefool and welcome to NBR. Yeah I got the bios file to work about a month ago now and loving the Q9650 performance! The E6850 I do not recommend it is a 65nm 75W power sapper. With the C90P any core 2 processor will work with the 0803 bios. Anything up to a dual core E8600 or the Q9650 will work fine! I managed to get my Q9650 to run at 3.35 ghz x 4 stably! If I were you I would get one of these newer 45nm 1333mhz fsb Wolfdale/Yorkfield processors. Leave the more inferior pentium duals and Wolfdale 3M (E7xxx) to C90S owners :p

Word of warning however you will need to undervolt your Q9650 and improve the cooling a little to run it at its best. If you have the money invest in a Q9550S however it is a little expensive for me.

Btw I do welcome any C90P owners from asia as it seems a much more popular laptop over there with many more active owners. It was thanks to another chinese C90P owner that I got my hands on the 0803 bios and I am of course very grateful that there is a big community there. If there are any other interesting developments for the C90 in your community please share it here :)

Glad to hear that you made it a month ago.
I replaced my old E2200 with E6300,a processor of 45nm, 2.8GHZ, 2M L2 cache, 1066MHZ FSB, it is a little weaker than Intel E7400,but much cheaper, I spend about 67 dollars on it(in Guangdong province of China). but a problem cames to me, I got a blue-screeen sometimes, when I plug the external AC power-supply connector to the socket, or unplug it, and it boot automatically, the string-codes in the bule screen shows something I'm not sure, and it disappers soon. some owners here in some Chinese BBS said it is the RAM that brings in such phonomenon, I'm not sure whether RAM is the root cause or not. what brand do you adopt in your C90p, and what core unit the manufacturer use? will you give me a details of your RAM.

it seems that C90P doesn't support DDR3 RAM, although its motherboard P35 supports as high as DDR3 1333, but there is no RAM socket o the borad for DDR3 RAM,besides,as working voltage of DDR3 is 1.5V, while DDR2 is 1.8V, and it is said theirs pin numbers differs, too.so it is a great pity for C90P owners, especially for you who equipped it with such powerful central processor(quad-cored,1333 MHZ FSB, 6MB L2 cache), are you agree, hehe, while, you may upgrage your graphics card to 9600M GT, here in China, someone has made it, and it works in a much cooler states.

thanks you for replying me your RAM details, my email accounts are: [email protected], or [email protected], or [email protected].
    Nice weekend!!
