Hi, I have received a replacement Asus V1S after a warranty.

The machine I sent Asus was a UK spec V1S-AK013, I in return received an Asus V1SAS002c according to the sticker on the bottom.

I already have an issue with the screen resolution. I can set my screens resoultion to a max of 1440x900 where my previous v1s had a max resolution of 1680x1050 (wsxga+).

Anyway I called Asus UK to complain firstly about the screen resolution and also to complain at what seemed to me an absence of the Turbo Memory Module. I was told to look again.

How on earth do I find out if this machine has the Turbo Memory Module included? I have installed the 'Turbo_Memory_VT' driver from the Asus site but nothing seems to have changed, I looked in 'my computer' but found nothing, I openly admit I have no idea what to look for and where.

    Anyone help me out?

    Thanks.

    1. Click on Start » All Programs.
    2. Find the Intel Turbo Memory program group.
    3. Select Intel Turbo Memory Console.
    4. Select Continue when you see a Microsoft Windows* prompt that says: "A program needs your permission to continue. If you started this program, continue."
    5. Select Enable Windows ReadyBoost1.
    6. Select Enable Windows ReadyDrive2.
    7. Reboot the system.

Memory size of the Turbo Memory should say 1GB. Thanks!

Thanks for help, unfortunately I don't have that software located on my notebook. I have downloaded and installed just about everything Turbo Memory related that I can find on the Intel site.

If anyone has the software or a link to it I would appreciate it.

It may not make a difference but it the last thing I can think of, is the turbo memory dependant on any particular services running - after my clean install i edited services.msc in using BlackViper.com's Tweaked settings.

Thanks Again for your help EXcaliberPC

Give this a try. It's a zip file from Intel site.

Still no dice. I have 1 folder similar in Start/All Programs and that's 'Intel Matrix Storage Manager' and within that 'Intel Matrix Storage Console' which doesn't mention anything about turbo memory.

    Thanks for you help though.

In order to see it on my F8Sn I need to have the "Show Hidden Files & Folders" checked in the Tools -> Folder Options & it's in

    C:\Preload\turbomem

I don't know my friend but it seems like it's not on your notebook. I'm sure it's aggravating but from what I've heard here you're not missing much as far as an increase in performance by using turbo memory. Have you tried inserting a USB Flash drive that's "Ready Boost" compatible ? Maybe you can get some "boost" from that. I think most of that Turbo & Boost stuff may look good on paper but there's no getting around that adding *real* ram helps in real world performance.
Maybe you can max out your notebooks memory & go from there ?

I would be more annoyed about the resolution problem.

Thanks, I agree turbo memory is a waste of time. This machine is a warranty replacement, I'm actually trying to find as much stuff that differs from the spec I should have to argue with Asus. This machine will be going back next week.

    Thanks again for your help
