How to get a 4-cell battery for V6J?

Hi--

Does anyone know how I can order the lighter 4-cell battery for the V6J?

According to the ASUS USA spec page, using the 4-cell battery (instead of the 8-cell that the north american config comes with) should lighten the overall weight by a bit over half a pound. It may sound strange, but I find that I almost always have to have my power adapter with me anyway, so I wouldn't mind shorter battery life to make it that much more portable.

Thing is, I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. I've seen some replacement 8-cell batteries around, but no 4-cells. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it. Anyone know if I can call ASUS directly for parts such as this if I don't see any resellers that carry them?

Have you tried a non-US based reseller? May be your only option is to import

 

You don't..... I've seen it and you don't want it anyway. The reason we didn't get those on our systems as "stock" or even offer them as an option is because the cost is only like $20 cheaper (on a $120 item) and you have half the battery life. The physical size is the same, the only thing that's lower is the weight and it's not considerable.. it's a few ounces... you'll never notice the difference, but having half the life will get on your nerves....

Trust me, you don't want it.

 

Thanks Justin for the info, agreed it's not much of a difference but I'd still like the option. So, if anyone knows someone who sells the 4-cell I'd appreciate hearing about it.

 

That's just it.. based on what I told you, no one in North America will have it or order it for you....... and because of the slight difference, most other countries aren't using them either. Some countries got them as original batteries and then the only other batteries they sold as optional were the 8 cell.. It's going to be impossible for you to get the 4 cell, but let me know how you make out.
