Finally finished my C90S ultimate cooling method mod :)
    Guide and results as follows,:

-Tools needed, electric drill, drill bits up to 8mm, srewdriver, thermal paste, C90P VGA THERMAL MODULE ASSY (part number- 13GNQ31AM030-1), older alumium heatsink from GPU, decent laptop cooler I use the Cyro LX

-The copper heatsink can be found at asusparts.com for 36.60 euros so about $46.50, 32 quid. Guide for installation can be found at post #228 in the C90S modders thread.

1.) Carry out vicious mod. I used simple electric drill and proceeded to drill 21 8mm holes over the GPU area.

2.) Apply thermal paste in long thin strip along the length of copper heatpipe that runs on top of the copper heatsink. Then carefully place the aluminium heatsink kept from before on top. Follow photo below for placement as it will sit completely flush with the case as a perfect fit. If not placed correctly the case will not close properly.

3.) Close up D-door allow to dry for half hour then fire her up.

Is it worth doing? YES DEFINITELY.

Before the mods ad cooler I was getting on IDLE/STOCK ACPI - 55-60C
    CPU - 54-55C
    GPU - 75-80C

    Now I get on IDLE/STOCK ACPI - 32C
    CPU - 23-25C
    GPU - 51C

Using ATI tool I proceed to find highest temp for GPU - 83C
Playing games like crysis on OC mode the temps do not reach 78C!

2 screenshots below show CPUID at IDLE and with ATI Tool running for 30 mins.

The copper heatsink came with a poor pre-applied thermal compound if I were to replace it with fresh thermal paste I believe the temps could drop another 2-3

    Thanks for reading

edit; after drilling holes throughout entire raised area temps dropped to a further 2-3C on each device, changed above

Great job on your cooling mod King of Interns. One quick question though, would your GPU temps drop even further without putting the aluminum heatsink back on? Your pictures look like it would allow more air flow over it just like the CPU.

I have tried it without but essentially because the aluminium heatsink gives more surface area for heat to dissipate to and because it sits that little bit closer to the airflow of the fans the temps are a few degrees cooler when on the laptop cooler maybe 3-5C cooler. Mind you 51C is when the card clocks down to powermizer. On some drivers like the newer 178xxx powermizer doesn't seem to kick in so the temp is 60C idle. Still one can live with that :)

Cudos to your great work! I am getting 65 - 73C on my GPU. 51C would be a welcome sight.

    ahh nostalgia!

to this day the c90s had the best notebook screen I had ever seen as far as type of screen. It was semi glossy but not reflective giving a balance of matte and glossy.

The "Vicious Mod" alone dropped my temps to really low numbers, be sure to get a cooling pad to go with it though for max benefit.

I still have the original mod pics too!

    Here they are re-hosted.

Is there any way to keep my fans on med/high at all times? Or a program that lets me set speed. Also my turbogear utility has the overclocking settings grayed out :O

You can't change fan speeds. Technically, you may be able to but noone has figured out how to do it or bothered to spend much time trying with Asus laptops yet

If you have the E6700 then you can only do a gaming OC to 2.93ghz officially. Still however you can use clockgen or setfsb to reach higher speeds. Having the E7500 means turbogear won't work at all as it is already running at "max" 2.93ghz. Still however again overclock using programs to reach speeds in excess of 3.2ghz. As for fans only hardware mods work by routing direct 12 V to fans. Takes some soldering and small wires and switches(fiddly) has been done though.
