I picked this up about a month ago and I am very impressed as it can do everything I want and need it to.
It comes with Vista 64 and 4gb of DDR2 Ram along with 9800m GS card and a 2.53ghz.
This build is from Newegg and isn't listed on Asus's product line website .
How can I make my Laptop faster graphically and just overall.
I haven't upgraded in a long time and had been running XP SP3 on my 6 year old Compaq Presario with 768mb of DDR ram and a ATI Radeon 9250 card.

Remove all the junk from the system tray and uninstall the Asus bloatware that you won't be using eg. Asus Splendid or Asus Data Protection

You will definitly be pleased performance wise thats for sure. Direct COnsole provides factory overclocking if you ever need a boost but you already have a processor smoking some of the lesser G50's.
You can find (at the moment its still on the front of the asus forum) the GS to GTS bios flash, its a warranty voider if you cant get it flashed back later (you can undo it while the machine still works though) but if you have a good gpu in yours it should take to the "overclock" the GTS is the same core with a higher voltage and clock throwing out atleast 1,000 more 3dmarks. Cores are usually tested to a tolerance and then go into a model based upon this, but sometimes decent chips land in a lesser package. The increased voltage allows you to achieve a higher overclock then normally possible though the stock GTS clock should be good enough if the chip will run it. -
So just a BIOS flash will turn the GS into a GTS? I don't see how thats possible. -
Two other great things to do is update your drivers and remove all of the unwanted programs. -

It is possible that GTS passable chips made it into GS cards, this would mainly happen if ASUS did not produce the 9800M GTS cards for their line. From the guide they speculate that A and B series get better hardware then the X series did and I can see this as very possible.
What you cant do is flash a GT bios as their are real physical differences.
How to get the most out of my G50vt-X6 Notebook?
