Im thinking of getting a g51 but the only problem is the battery life as i would like to use it for university.

Is there a way to increase battery life? I've heard with other laptops there are expansion slots or you can take out the dvd drive and replace it with a battery. Anything similar to this? I need atleast 3 hours of battery life.

Alternatives to getting a bigger battery is to:

    1) Don't play games, just surf the web or type stuff
    2) Turn down the brightness, don't use the backlights, turn off WiFi if possible
    3) Undervolt your CPU (look at my guide in signature)

Does anyone know how many hours you can go on a 9 cell battery while NOT gaming, just surfing the web/writing?

how much of a difference would undervolting make for battery life?

also, with the quad standard in the A1 version, will battery life decrease or stay the same?

put it on battery saver and suffer with crappy performance. if your indoors just plug it in. a lot of kids at my college that bring laptops, even the highly touted mac book 13s battery life, sit near the walls and plug in their lappys to outlets.
unless it has to make it thru a 3 hour lecture, u should be ok.
