Hello
My warranty expiration is close for my Asus A8Js laptop. I'm thinking it is time to overclock my CPU and GPU.
Anyone knows any link for a guide on how to overclock my A8Js?
I've searched the forum and didn't find any guide for my laptop.
Thanks

Why do you need to overclock, do you need more speed in some particular applications that you're running?
If not, I'd suggest don't do it. -
I need more power for games. As fas as I know it is safe right?
Any links to any guide? I'll be thankful -
I don't know a guide, you could check the Gaming forum and also the Guides forum.
I think people mostly overclock the CPU with SetFSB, and the GPU with RivaTuner. There are some quirks though, so be careful (e.g., RivaTuner will not read the card frequencies properly for recent mobile cards, there will be an offset; I don't know how that affects the frequencies that it sets).
For games, I would suggest overclocking the GPU only as that is usually the bottleneck.
I wouldn't call it "safe" because it can cause problems. However, if you do it carefully and in small steps, the worst you can get is a bluescreen/lockup or a shutdown due to heat, without lasting hardware damage.
I want to emphasize I do not have experience with overclocking notebooks, so I will not guarantee any of the information above. Use it at your own risk...
