Anyone here know how to pop this baby open? I want to put some AS5 on the GPU (GTX 260m) as I did it on my CPU and the idle temps dropped like 15C and hasnt even broken the 65C mark overclocked (2.9ghz) when running OCCT Linpack Burn-in...truly remarkable difference.
Now I want to do the same to the GPU.
Its visible when you remove the bottom access plate (where the 2nd HDD bay is and CPU/RAM) BUT you cannot remove the GPU from here which makes me think that the whole bottoms need to come off.
Ive removed all the screws and nothing happens...are there hidden screws under some stickers or something? Is the bottom locked into place and needs a little prying to get it off?
If someone can help me I would MUCH appreciate it! Thanks!

No one has any ideas?

after a bit of googling it seems you need to remove the CPU+GPU heatsinks at the same time, and then remove the GPU. have you tried that?
-
Yeah, problem is is that how the GPU is put in the laptop theres a few plastic parts (part of the chassis) that are blocking the GPU from being removed..as far as I can tell the whole bottom would have to come off in order for the GPU to be removed. I mean, Im pretty damn computer literate and I just do not see a way for it to be taken out other than a complete disassemble.

Element is right. Remove the heatsink for both the CPU and the GPU. That's how you can get at it.
I know this isn't going to be the best explanation, because I don't remember verbatim how I did it EXACTLY, but I can tell you it can be done without a complete disassemble. When I did it, it was a matter of pull and twist. Meaning, pull the GPU gently toward you and then turn it gently to the right or left. It needs to be wiggled out. Eventually, it will come out. It's a very snug fit in there. But it will come out. Just take your time, and maneuver it out gently, and it'll pop loose.
I hope that makes sense. -
Have you done this particular laptop? Im fairly certain these is no way to get it out with out breaking something haha...and Im not pansy at this kinda stuff...I just simply don't see a way to take it out without major stuff being done.
I can take a picture if thatll help? Actually, Ill do that now as the bottom is still off...
OK...basically, the RED bars indicate where the PCB extends past what you can see in the picture and the GREEN CIRCLES are plastic pieces that prevent the whole unit from just sliding out.
In my eyes and by testing it myself, theres no feasable SAFE way for the GPU to be extracted with just the bottom cover being removed...unless Im missing something major. I can get it lose no problem...but thats as far as I can getAttached Files:
