I want to reformat my Asus F6V-A1 laptop but how do I do that? Are there backup discs that came with it or do I reformat through some application in the laptop? Sorry, I am unfamiliar with my laptop.

Hi SupraTurbo, and welcome to the forums.

To format your notebooks, simply insert your recovery disk and go through the steps of installing your operating system. There will be an option for you to delete partitions and format your hard drive. Choose the drive or partition you wish to format and continue with the installation process. Remember to back up all your important data before formatting your drive.

You also may need to change the boot order of your machine to check cd/dvd first by entering the bios. I have to F2 on my W3J just as Asus flashes across the screen and before Windows starts running.

Or simply hit "ESC" key when you see Asus logo and it'll ask you which drive to boot from.

Thanks, but will it wipe out my partition if I reformat my local disk stuff?

    In case still useful:

There are 2 types of options, "Recover to 1st partition only" "Recover to entire HDD in 1 (or 2) partitions". The 1st will only kill the 1st partition, as its name says.

In any case it's best to backup your data before attempting a recovery.
