I have an Asus K55A which is showing pink and green screens and horizontal lines across the screen. It displays normally on another rmonitor attached. I have also replaced the screen and the same things happens. From this I am presuming the video card is fine, the screen is fine but the LCD Cable is loose or damaged and may need replaced.

I can take the screen apart and follow the LCD cable down through the hinge of the laptop but I cant seem to work out how I get to where it joins the motherboard in order to see if it is loose or to replace it. I cant find a video anywhere online for this model.

Can anyone provide advice on how to check or replace this cable and do people agree with my diagnosis?

    Thanks

Try to ground yourself when you crack the system open to get to the video cable. You don't necessarily need an ESD wrist strap, but if you can at least do the work on a hard wood floor or tile, etc., you should be fine. Or if you can touch something metal, that will ground you as well.

Yes this was the video I used to change the screen but I think it is the screen cable that needs replaced. Any idea how I go about opening up this model to see where it plugs into the motherboard? I couldn't find anything on the net to show me.

The part where it goes onto the mainboard requires you to uncover the C side, therefore you pretty much need to take the whole thing apart.

Either through asus, your reseller or ebay usually.
