i know that my desktop 8800GTS 320mb can handle medium settings at 1680x1050 but laggy in lot of the heavier scenes.... is the 9800m GS the same way? or is it a little slower than the 8800gts?

he is comparing t with desktop 8800gts

    from nvidia

    GeForce
    8800 GTS 500 1200 800
    640MB or 320MB
    320-bit

    the 9800mgs is 256bit

for me i tried warhead at gamer its really playable

at lower you can play at 1680 with smooth frame rate

    dont worry

9800m-gs isn't even close to (desktop) 8800 gts in terms of performance.

It wont run badly at all...
    On my laptop with
    C2D 2.2 CPU
    2GM RAM
    HD 2600 512MB GPU ( Really bad, I know)

I can run Crysis 1280x900 with mostly medium...
9800GS will very easily double that performance...

Yea, laptop cards are always going to be down a little bit in power. Worth it for me in terms of portability though. I'm often traveling to small LAN games, and it's easier than packing a desktop. I like being able to go anywhere and play Crysis on High at 30FPS =P

just installed warhead yesterday to see how it ran. It runs ok, bit of a stutter here and there but at med high settings it runs really good and looks great.

From what I've read the 9800m GS is slightly less powerful than a desktop 9600 GT. Laptop cards of any sort are no match for desktop cards because of power and thermal limitations.

I ran Crysis at 1680 x1050 and put everything on high. When I got to some serious action parts I was getting SLOW framerates and had to bring some things downs. Shadows to medium and brought some setting down to medium and I finally got it to run good with a couple settings still on high. If naything I think the 9800 GS can handle quite nicely.

This baby can run crysis alright. I have run all medium at 1920x1080 at playable fps. I normally play all high except shadows and objects at medium at native (1366x768) at very playable fps, avg near 30fps. lowest I get is around 20 or so fps and usually stays well even in large battles. If you want more consistent performance you can play all medium quite well.

yes, you can play Crysis on a 9800M GS.

I have the Asus G71G-A2 with the 9800 GS and it runs fine at 1920x1200 at medium settings (Crysis decided this when I hit Optimize in the settings). The graphics look sweet at that resolution.
