EDIT: on the title i meant i got the u45jc not the u35jc, sorry.
i bought this laptop on JandR when it was onsale for $789 because i thought it would be a great laptop for occasional gaming in college. But im hating it right now because the optimus technology dosnt automatically switch to the better graphics card when i try to play starcraft 2. anyway, im guessing, simply upgrading my graphics driver to the newer version would solve the problem. i went on nvidia's website and currently the newest version is the 258.96, but when i try to install it the computer freezes. ive had to go on safe mode to uninstall the driver to get this computer going again..
i hear alot of ppl are having the same problem but does anyone have a solution to this issue?

If it doesn't automatically switch to the preferred graphics controller you can still manually set it going to:
nVidia Control Panel> Manage 3D Settings> Program Settings and choose Starcraft 2 to use nVidia GPU. -
thanks, but im still disappointed it dosnt switch automatically. what im really wondering is: how do i fix the nvidia 258.96 driver updating problem? after i install the newer version, when i try to log in the computer, the compter screen just freezes....

I'm in the same boat. It crashes after I install that driver and I have to uninstall it from safe mode. I tried installing one of the beta drivers but my laptop fails the hardware check, so it doesn't install.
Has anyone successfully updated their graphics drivers under Optimus? -
I went ahead and installed the nvidia display driver from this list of U35JC drivers: Asus u35j - ASUS U35JC Drivers | Laptop - Notebooks Drivers Updates
I Got the u35jc. but it crashes when i try to update the Nvidia driver to 258.96 version.
