    Hi,

New to the forums. I have been looking into getting an asus for a while. I used to have a sager but that finally died and now i am looking into a new laptop. I want something thats light and has decent gaming power. I have looked into some models and i wanted to know if anyone has performance specs for any of hte following; ASUS F8 Series F8P-C1W(HD2400), ASUS F9 Series F9Sg-A1(9300gs), ASUS M50 Series M50Sv-A1(9500gs w bluray), ASUS F8 Series F8Sn-B1 (9500GS), and ASUS U3 Series U3S-A1W (8400g).

I want to know how well these laptops run in cysis, cod4, and cs source. Also need help on battery life and weight/ design. My last laptop was think and was 12.6 pounds. I want to stay away from a really heavy laptop. I want the best performance out of the lightest and fastest laptop.

    Thanks

    Brandon Clark

Firstly I would suggest you look around for reviews, those will usually include gaming benchmarks. Look for reviews in two places:

    a) On the main reviews directory (it has a tab above the forum menu, "Notebook Reviews")

    b) For many models that are not in the main reviews directory, there are links to user and reseller reviews in the ASUS Info Booth; main sticky in this ASUS forum. Check that list as well ("Quick Reviews").

For good gaming performance out of a relatively small laptop, I think the F8Sn is among the best options. Its weight is not very small, however. But none of the notebooks on your list will come even close to 12.6 pounds... most will be under 3kg heavy, the U3 around 2kg or less, I think.

U3 is a good option if your gaming requirements are not very high.

Maybe also look into the W7S. Less shiny than the U3, which for some people (like me) is a good thing.

Be aware of the 512MB soldered RAM which limits the RAM to 2.5GB, however.

The refresh w7sg increases that to 1GB / 3GB max, but it's not out yet in some places including US (where it's not even on the roadmap sent to the resellers).
