Okay so last august I bought a w3v from c9tech. (from the looks of it, their website has been down for a number of months now, am i to assume they are no longer in business anymore)

So recently whenever i play games on w3v, i get a black screen of death (basically what happens is i can still hear background noise for about 5-6 seconds after the black screen but after that it becomes completely nonresponsive so i have to manually restart). I saw a problem similar to mine with no solution to it. So far I have cleaned out the dust in the vent and fan, no help there. I ran memtest86 last night for the longest time, after like 23 passes it found no errors. I have tried all sorts of different drivers on everything from stock to omega ati drivers, no luck.

Here is another problem though, in september i moved out to college so basically we shut off internet at my parents house since they didnt use (i had sbc yahoo dsl) so i dont have access to that email anymore (for my sales reciept). I called them and one of the costumer service people said that my email address is long gone and there is no way to get them back even if i were subscribe again.

And now with c9tech offline, I dont really have anyway to prove I bought this laptop last august and that I still have warrenty on it.

I have a few questions, anyone know what might be going on and how i can fix the problem that problem?

I did send in my warrenty info to ASUS for a rebate, so they have my UPC and all that stuff, would ASUS still have a record of when I got this laptop and would I be able to send it in for them to have a look at and try to fix or maybe replace it?

if you registered your w3v, they should have your information.

i remember that the owner of c9tech has a facebook profile, so if you have a facebook account and remember his name, you could possibly try and message him.

Perhaps its a software glitch, perhaps do a system restore?

Or a fresh reformat also works.

I doubt that C9Tech has gone out of business, it just says site maintenence. And the website was up not too long ago, I remember looking at it in March or April sometime.

I would personally try a system restore or clean reinstall of Windows, as cori suggested. [edit] Or not, if that didn't help.

I doubt the Asus tech support people are gonna care too much about the purchase date. They can probably check the approx. time of purchase (or at least when it was manufactured) using the SN. Also, if you paid using a credit card, try using your statements as proof.

if its just going black in games then it could be a graphics issue or a windows issue (i've had windows not recognize my mouse movements and my screensaver come up in game, but thats a bit different)

besides reinstalling windows you'd probably want to get it fixed under its warranty
