Hey im trying to instal vista and xpon my c90

i already have xp installed. i read some online guides and they said that xp + vista is easier than vista + xp. because u dont need to edit any bootup files.

well anyway i followed their instructions for installing vista with xp installed already and basically all is fine until i get to the loading scrollbar screen. basically the bar scrolls, but my hdd doesnt indicate its doing anything and the scrollbar stays scrolling forever. i literarlly let it run for 3 hours one time, and nothing happened.

ive also tried safe mode and "last known configuration that worked" and that still didnt do anything. Any ideas?

also, when my xp boots up, the powergear folder pops open, and the webcam is black screen unless i uninstall powergear. is there anyway to fix this? i remember reading it here somewhere but even after searching i cudnt find the post.

thanks for your help in advance.

That problem you just described is 100% the same as the one others have when using a pirated version of Vista are you using a Legit version?

If you are having that problem with a REAL copy then let me and others know and we can go to the next step.

my xp is legit but vista is pirated lol, i dont wanna buy it cause i dunno if ill like it after hearing all the stuff people say about it. im dual booting cause iwana test vista out. so theres no way to do it with a pirated version?

why does having a priated version make it not work anyway

Sorry. No help for any pirated software in these forums. By the way, pirated verions of Vista contain edited system files. This is done by people with little knowledge of the effects on the overall OS. Thus, the internal links between system files is broken and borked.

You will probably not understand what I mean, but think of it as a chain. You have a broken chain link, but decide not to get it fixed (the fix being activating Vista). Instead you use some rope to replace the link (this being a pirated copy). The chain will not be as strong and will be unstable. Try to climb with it, but you do so at your own RISK!

Given you don't want to pay for Vista, I suggest you just stick with XP for now. Vista is somewhat in the early stages of reliability updates, anyway.

In a year or so, you can buy a Vista (or a Vista notebook) and upgrade safely.

I think we should close the discussion & questions about pirated Vista, or a moderator will close the thread for us.
