    Hi,

I've got an Asus F3SR that won't seem to turn on.

It's been working the entire week until this weekend. I decided to give my laptop a clean so I took off the keyboard, cleaned it, and while I was at it, I decided to clean the fans as well. I took the actual fan out of its holder thingy, to clean the fan blades. Afterward I put everything back together.

Turned the laptop on. It comes up with that screen, that screen that usually comes up when Windows hasn't been shut down properly. I hit "Start Windows Normally", Window starts to load...and then the screen goes blank. The laptop turns off.

And now whenever I press the power button, the indicators (power, and HDD indicators, to be specific) come on for literally one second and then turns off. Nothing appears on screen. It's connected by the AC adapter so it's not a matter of batteries dead. And I tried using my laptop batteries to power it on, same scenario.

Is my motherboard dead? But all I did was take off the keyboard and fans. What the hell.

I'm stumped. Any help is much appreciated.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, it's out of warranty as well.

EDIT2: While the AC adapter is connected, and the laptop batteries are in, it doesn't seem to be recharging the batteries like it usually does too.

Triple-check all connections that you removed when you cleaned it out. Keyboard not properly connected?

Nope, keyboard works fine because I was able to hit the Enter key when that screen appeared (the screen that comes up when Windows hasn't shut down properly).

And the only thing I took off was:

    1. That bottom panel that covers the fan, CPU, GPU, and RAM. (to reach the screws for the keyboard)

    2. The laptop fan. I took off the screws to take it out of its holder (to clean the fan blades). I also disconnected the fan connector. BUT I tripled checked that I properly connected it back in after I was done cleaning the fans.

    I didn't touch anything else.

Try again? Maybe reconnect any connections, because somethings may be connected but it might not make contact.

Did you touch anything without properly static discharged when removing the fan? Could be a reason, although not likely.
