I ordered a notebook finally, but not an Asus :( I got a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p with a 15" SXGA IPS screen and an ATI FireGL card. Maybe next time Asus buddy. I really wanted a V6j or Z70 style with a modern video card and Core 2 Duo. I even decided on the W1j at one point, but alas I couldn't find anybody to give my money to.

Yes, not a bad choice, though if u prefer widescreen, they have T60 w/ widescreen now. Lenovo has better build quality, hardware stability and reliability, and the better mechanics than every brand on the market. The Thinkpads are for business users, not gamers.
Also worth noting is the thinkpad's KEYBOARD. Those are THE BEST.

The reason why I'm choosing ASUS over Lenovo: FireGL is unfavorable for gaming, even though equivalent to X1600. I prefer glossy crystal screens over matte screens...and that's pretty much it.

    All on personal preferences

I don't care about glossy vs matte, but I did want the IPS screen. The widescreen doesn't have IPS yet so I'm fine with 4:3. I do lots of design and programming so it's probably a better form factor for me. I still want a W1j...
