I was told that Btotech.com has a return policy, but they have a 5% restocking fee if I customize the laptop. I am going to assume that they don't have a policy for students. I guess my question is that if I just buy the laptop straight up without doing the customization (more ram and hard drive), would it be cheaper to just do it myself? Is it acutally cheaper to customize on BtoTech?

    Students have a policy?

As for prices, you should do some comparison yourself, of course for places like BTOTech, there should be a bit of an increase for upgrades then if you do it yourself, but its for the person upgrading it and testing for you and making sure there is no problem.

Read the policy. it says the policy goes from no restocking to 5% ONLY if cpu is customized
