Hi, I'm Michael, kinda new to these boards, but I've been lurking alot.
I got the ASUS G1-S for Christmas! My dream laptop, should be worry free right?
Wrong.
The two games I bought this laptop for TF2 and CS:S, both don't work! I don't see why, I have more than enough power to run these games!
But for some reason, during both of these games, I experience a looping sound crash a few seconds I join a server and when I try and update my video drivers, I get a BSOD every time I open up a game!
Last time I played TF2 without any problems was last weekend, but I was running on battery. Does the G1-S CPU problem have something to do with this?
Thanks.

1. driver related ( do u have all the drivers updated? www.laptopvideo2go.com for nvidia drivers modded)
2. Temp related . use coretemp to monitor temp for processor and riva tuner for graphics card and report back -
make sure hyour battery setting is set to high power
-
It might also be that there are hardware problems, but first I'd try to eliminate the other causes people have been mentioning.
I suppose you have not overclocked your GPU or undervolted your CPU, right? -
the looping sound could be due to your sound driver. I remember having this problem with the sound driver supplied by asus. If i had my volume too loud, the sounds would start looping and my computer would freeze for a few seconds, then come out of it. Try using the realtek driver from the realtek site instead.

After I install 169.09, every time I start a game I get a BSOD.
Any recommendations for drivers applying to TF2?
When I play TF2 I get around 85-90 Celsius. I feel that these are acceptable temps.
I have not attempted to overclock or undervolt.
I'm going to try the new sound drivers.
If it is of any use, when I open up the console in TF2, I get a bunch of red text and error messages. -
The temps are acceptable. I would try a restore to factory settings, including drivers and utilities. Then try updating GPU, audio, and other drivers. See if it works like that.

I believe I have found a solution!
Either running on battery fixes it, or disabling FRAPS.
Thanks for all the help guys. -
Running on battery? You won't be able to play long, or it won't use its full capabilities in that power mode.
-
Yeah, so disabling FRAPS is probably a better idea (whatever FRAPS is, seems to be some kind of video effect?)
-
that is interesting.. FRAPS is used to monitor fps in games
-
I think it's known to cause some issues with certain games...
I have a headache.
