I called them and told them, that im gonna buy an asus notebook, and asked, if it brakes, where can I send it in for repair? The woman said, the warranty only applies in the US, they dont do out of the country repair.

    What is that about?!

There is no asus repairer in my country, but I was gonna buy it in USA and bring it here.

Can this really be true ? What does global warranty means then....

they even say on theyr website " Where to repair?
Normally, the standard procedure is to contact your Reseller (place of purchase) for repair/exchange. However, if your reseller is no longer in business or unavailable, please contact your nearest ASUS office directly. You may also write to us. We will arrange technical support personnel to solve your case. "

" We not only offer you a complete nationwide service, but have also established numerous service sites around the globe. So, when you are looking for service, you can always refer to the GSM table to receive our immediate support"

First of all, what notebook. Then what country.

Most of their notebooks have a 2 year global warranty, which is exactly was it sounds. If it requires servicing during that period, you will need to ship it to the closest repair depot as per the ASUS support website.

This page has a list of worldwide service centers and contact info. I would start contacting the closest one until you can find out who does service for Iceland. It seems the largest in the EU is The Netherlands from what I have heard.

I was looking at ASUS website and in Europe region it seems they do not have any website dedicated to Iceland.
So maybe then you cannot use the pick and return garrantee they usually offer. I think you have to send your notebook into some other center around europe. Usually for ASUS RMA request in Germany we fill an online form and than ASUS sends by email a sticker that has to be attached to the package, and they send the Post People to pick it up directly at the home. :)
I don't know how you would have to do it in your case.

I know somebody who could have some useful information for you and that is "Kurim" the owner of www.asustreiber.de. He works for ASUS Notebooks in Germany and most probably he could get the answers for you.

I would suggest you visit that forum and post your request there. We here in Germany are very lucky that we get such a high quality of support. :D

Really hats-off for the ASUS employees here who run such a wonderful forum.
KURIM is super fast, he usually has at his forum very latest stuff from ASUS which sometimes never appears at official website.
For example he provided me two weeks ago with an updated bios v212 for M50VM notebook. The official website is still showing v209 since almost 8 months. :(

All the notebooks come with global warranties, so you can send your notebook into any service center and they will repair it for you. However, they will only return your notebook to a regional address. It makes no sense to expect Asus to send your notebook back to an international address.

The way I see it is you can give it back to the reseller where you bought it and they will send it to the nearest service center around, and then it will be shipped back to the reseller (my guess here).
