I can see the GPU is soldered in the mobo, so you cant replace the gpu lol
-
yea no real point in opening this laptop beyond the harddrive and memory bays... doesnt post with a cpu swap either...
-
If you're opening it up all that way, I hope you redid the CPU paste -
Yea thanks for the tip... I'm used to building desktops so it's a no brainer although, this is only the third laptop I've ever cracked opened.. Opened two Asus laptops from curiosity and 3 hp laptops of the same model for motherboard swaps..
-
And re-assembly isn't even that hard, either.
Now, having it work after re-assembly ... another story all together. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Doesn't seem that hard to disassemble a laptop lol
Good stuff. Anyway, don't want to start a new thread on a quick issue, but does anyone here knows where could I find a disassemble guide for M60J? Warranty guys messed up my LED indicators, need to look that's the problem.
-
Hi, thanks a lot for making this thread Junior!
I bought the same one N53JF X5MJ (almost) and i was wondering if it was fanless because they didnt
put any vents behind the fan.
Ive been searching for a silent laptop and "knocking wood" i hope now i found it.
My laptop history:
1. Acer 1652 = noisy
2. HP dv9212 = silent
3. HP dv7 1050 = noisy -
Hey
I'm having problems with my wireless card.
Can you point me where the wireless card is so I can change it? is it in the bottom or in the top?
Since i'm not very experienced in taking apart laptops I want to risk it as minimum as possible
Nice work by the way
Thanks -
There isn't a clear shot of it in this set of pics, either. But generally, the wifi card is attached to a black wire and a white wire. First pic seems to have that particular combo of wires in one of the visible openings. -
Thanks a lot for these pictures buddy!
Saves me the risk of breaking my laptop =] -
definitely a noob when it comes to laptop disassembly. Having trouble sliding the bottom panel off to access the memory. Bought an extra 4gb as an upgrade. What do I use for leverage to help slide open?
-
Mine slides off really easily
Just force a credit card in the middle then it should be free -
Instructions working great for the XV1 as well. Thanks!

When you lift up the keyboard (IMG_0646), is there double sided tape on bottom of keyboard that you have to fight with to take the keyboard out? I see a video of G73, where the bottom of the keyboard got out of shape because the double sided tape held the bottom to the laptop with too much force. So I am just wondering if that is the case with N53 too.
When you can finally see the motherboard and exhaust fan, as in "IMG_0695.jpg", do you still have to re-apply CPU paste? Assume I just want to clean the fan, and stop right at what you did at "IMG_0695.jpg". Thx -
@0695, you don't have to re-apply cpu paste; you do only when you separate the copper thing from the cpu+gpu
@0646, there shouldn't be double sided tape at the bottom; most people put double sided tape to fix the keyboard flex -
Thanks! -
npnp sry for the typo
-
Very great job, Juniorsti.
Noone known where is located the BlueTooth module (or it's connector) on the MB? Thx, bye. -
Is the DC jack also directly soldered onto the mobo?
-
Thanks again for the pictures! I just successfully upgraded to i5-480m. But the cpu whine still exists . fail................................

-
really helpful thread. thanks for the pictures with labels, i was wondering how to remove the keyboard and replace it with a chicket one.
-
there are 5 of those little tab things holding the keyboard down and then it's connected by a ribbon cable~ -
Would it be easy to replace the keyboard with a backlit one? Or is that not possible/require soldering?
-
I got my ASUS N53Jq-XT1 around April 1st of this year, I instantly added a Class 10 16gb SD card for ReadyBoost, I have also upgraded my RAM to 12gb by adding 2 - 4gb Corsair chips to it... Talk about smoking... I LOVE it!!! I highly recommend the ReadyBoost chip if you haven't already done it... and the RAM upgrade obviously helps tons too...
This is my first ASUS, but definitely not my last...

Can you tell me what the model number is your blu-ray player? I have a
n53sn-xr2 with a 1080 screen. I am wanting to upgrade the optical drive to a blu-ray VS the dvd combo i have. Thanks -

hi guys, I am trying to replace the wireless card in my asus n53sv and I am having a really difficult time detaching the metal cover under the keyboard so that I can access the wireless card. Can anyone post some pics and give me some advice on how to pry the cover off without breaking it. I have already removed the blu-ray drive and all of the screws on the bottom of the laptop as well as on the inside underneath the keyboard I have disconnected the keyboard and removed the on/off switch cable. I'm still have a little trouble with the trackpad cable but hopefully I can get that out as well. I was just curious how to pry the plastic cover open so I can access the wireless card? I would appreciate any help or assistance in this matter. Thanks.
-
Hi guys,
I'm still having trouble popping the top panel off from the base. I have removed all the necessary screws as instructed in this guide along with all of the necessary ribbons and the blu-ray drive but I can't seem to be able to pry the top cover loose. Is their a safe way to remove the top cover without scratching up my laptop? -
-
hello! Is there anyone that replaced display? How to disassemble the display to replace it? I have an N53 notebook with hd screen and i am replacing it with a fullhd one. Is there a service manual out for this N53 laptop?
thanks! -
thanks for disassembly.
i got a problem with my n53sn, it has electrical leak at top silver case and near touchpad. my house kind of old (like 20 years) and doesnt have ground connection at rooms.
i tried to detect when it starts, and found when the adapter barely touch the laptop connection, when still laptop doesnt start or charge, leakage starts. so i tough i can isolate the ac input somehow to solve my problem.
wish you can send some photos of ac input with case, if they touch each or isolation material inside.
thanks -
Great guide...spent all day looking for something this specific and this is excellent.
A couple of quick questions just before I try dis-assembly. My goal is to replace the keyboard and the wireless card only:
1. If I only want to replace the wireless card, I see the card is at the top. Do I need to remove screws on the bottom on the laptop, if I am only trying to access the wireless card? I don't want to remove the mobo.
2. Do I need to remove the blu-ray drive and/or the blu-ray screws etc in order to get the top panel off to replace the wireless card?
Thanks again. -
To replace the keyboard is easy mode...
Replacing the Wireless card requires however full unscrew to open the top plate. -
I can not remove the caddy with my ssd (I replaced my dvd player with an Akasa N Stor caddy with a Crucial M4 of 64gb).
It is stuck, so I'll have to take my laptop apart.
I saw your pictures and my question is:
Is it possible to remove the dvd drive/caddy after the removal of the front?
I can access the three screws if I remove the faceplate of my caddy, so this should not be a problem (I think)...
Thanks in advance -
I have been looking for this for months, trying to figure out why my speakers sound terribly distorted. Thanks so much for time and photos!!!!
-
Hi guys, what do you think the most powerful CPU that I can mount on my N53jf? i7 840QM? Thank you.
-
I noticed that you have an ASUS N53JF. I have one myself except I recently bricked it after a BIOS flash. Would you be kind enough to provide me a BIOS dump?
Here's a tool you can use, it should only take less than a minute: http://www.sendspace.com/file/3jbxvn
Once downloaded, right click and run as administrator. Click "Read", once finished, click "Backup". Lastly, save it and somehow get me the file.
This would truly help. It will allow me to revive my dead laptop.
Thanks,
I love My new N53JF-XE1 but I got bored... (Disassembly)
