OK guys I know the western digital are the most trusted HDD , but you know the metal enclousure the hard drive have to hold and attach the hdd to the laptop.
This is something I need to buy apart of the HDD or the HDD coming with that.
If I need to buy it apart waht the name of that and the model to order, or is somthing standar in all laptops.

    Thanks
    walt

Asus should really order more of these G50 HDD brackets... they're always out of stock and when they do become available, it's usually sold out within a day or two.

On the other hand, I've noticed that the M50 HDD caddy is very similar to the G50 one. It looks like it will work, but I can't confirm for sure.

I went fabulous since ASUS never ever has that stupid caddy in stock so I put my drive in the second bay with no caddy. It locked into the SATA interface very tightly and the second bay has some foam going in 2 directions to keep it steady/in place (had heard others were putting their own foam is some other ASUS model). My second hdd is a 320gb WD Scorpio Black @ 7200 rpm....

I might have said this before but I wouldn't be surprised if Asus is purposely keeping the brackets out of stock. You know trying to up sell the higher models by making it tough to upgrade. Hell it worked for me. :p I looked at the lower models but just didn't want to deal with the hassles of getting (finding) all the parts to upgrade so I was leaning towards the higher models. I was going to get the A1 but the free third year of warranty (at the time) swayed me to get the A2.

The lack of hard drive brackets might do the same for others. You know better screen, two hard drives, bluetooth plus .... for not too much more considering the cost of parts. It might just be their tactic.

    Just my $0.02
