Hello, everyone. I need your help with this problem.
I'm trying to connect notebook with TV, but it doesn't work.
I like to know how to connect TV and notebook.
After I conect cable, I pressed Fn + F8 for both TV only and TV+LCD; however, it didn't work.
What should I do to make it work? I like to get your advices.

Sometimes it takes a couple of seconds after you press Fn F8 before it detects it... it doesn't show anything on your TV even after that? You're using your DVI out / S-Video ?
-
ah... I just connected only S-video. Is there certain channel that I have to use? Do i have to connect DVI out too?
-
I hooked mine up to a tv (s-video and audio) while I was on vacation to watch a dvd. I went into display properties and had to tell it to extend my desktop onto the tv and also set the display resolution for the tv- which in my case was 800x600. You can also use 640x480 for a regular tube tv. After that, it worked perfectly.
Also, usually if you leave the S-vid cable hooked up and reboot the computer, it will auto-detect it. -
what do you mean by extend desktop to TV? -
Right click on your desktop, click on Properties, and on the Settings tab, you should have the option to Extend if using multiple displays.

Make sure your tv is set to the right channel or the right input. Push the input button on your remote to cycle through inputs. If you don't have an input button ,chances are it is one of the channels like L1 or L2, which you can get to by cycling down on your channels under you rlowest channel. You will also need to connect something like a Y-cable to your TV if you want sound from your TV instead of the laptop. Pushing the above mentioned button combination should allow the screen to be projected on the tv, but sometimes it may not work. You'll have to go to your display settings, under the display tab, and push one of the buttons next to the tv icon to project it. If you plan on watching something like a video on you, you may have to play around with the buttons next to both the lcd and tv icon in order for the video to not show up black the tv (that is, if you have this problem).

its easier to use Fn + F8
I spent a lot of time messing around with nvidia display properties...in the end the Fn works the best and is the most compatible. -
I wonder if i need update my driver ;;;;
-
did u select the correct input on ur tv set?
-
My TV has Input 1 and Input 2. I use those to play PS2 games. I never had problem with that consol.
-
so u plugged in the Asus provided cable in svideo of A8J then a regular video cable from the Asus cable to ur tv?
-
no no i understand im just trying to figure out how u connected the laptop. You connected from the laptop's svideo out to the regular video in of ur tv am i correct? are you sure the cables are fine? unless those are the same cables you are usign for ur ps2
-
upps, double post accidently. Yes, I plugged in Asus given cable to laptop, then plugged Y-cable to that cable, and finally I plugged Y-cable at TV. Oh, I use different Y-Cable. I wonder if this is cable problem. I see TV is flicking whenever I pressed Fn+F8 button. But nothing display on screen.

try another cable and see what happens

ummm how come I have Nview Desktop manager but no Nview Display manager?(I have regular Nvidia Display) So, I can't eben pick TV!!!
My mean there is no Nview Mode for duplicate or analogue display. -
ilwhana, did you try what speedfrk mentioned above? ie. Extend your monitor to your TV :
Right click on your desktop anywhere, Properties, and on the Settings tab, tell us what you see there, is there an option somewhere there to extend display to your secondary display? -
Thank you everyone. I finally fixed the problem. It wasn't cable or display set up's fault. I had to update the version of VGA from 83 to 84. I downloaded from Asus home page. Thank you once again.
I need help with my A8JM
